  1. Can't wait for the circus monkey to take control.
  2. What a yawner. The error in your logic has been explained dozens of times here.
  3. Yes, If they signed Bregman and the season started tomorrow, I think that would be their bench.
  4. I have very little interest in Baty.
  5. If they don't spend to get Bregman, I hope it's because they don't want him and not because they don't want to spend.
  6. He is just speculating like we are. I don't think he knows anything more than has already been reported.
  7. They will probably have a different line-up every day, but the most frequent starters would likely be: Rogers C Keith 1B Torres 2B Sweeney SS Bregman 3B Greene LF Meadows CF Vierling RF Carpenter DH
  8. Yeah, I can see that happening for sure.
  9. Since I do statistical programming for a living, I've gone the whole thing like you said. My first course in high school used the cards, then I progressed to deck writers, etc. Now, I love to tell my students that there were no screens when I took my first computer class! Anyway, now we have AI which I am starting to use at work to help write programs. Eventually, they won't need people who do what I do, but I'm too old to care.
  10. Computers became a problem when the inernet got too big. We have EVERYTHING on there now and it has become unmanageable. I liked the internet better when it was a place to get information and people who were really interested in a partucular topic could exchange ideas with each other. Now, people live their whole life on the internet. There are many benefits to that for both businesses and consumers, but it has turned into a **** show. Unfortunately, we can't really do without it now. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
  11. We should not allow people into the country illegally, but not everybody who enters the country illegally is a bad person.
  12. Can we say he was a bad person?
  13. Who hired them?
  14. Even $6 for a dozen eggs is a bargain. Where else can you get 4 meals for $6?
  15. OK, so clarify yourself.
  16. But you said that he would probably ask for an opt out in order to sign with Detroit which implies that Boston would not have to offer an opt out.
  17. My impressions of his presidency were not good at the time, but I was too young to care. I was impressed by what he did after his presidency. Almost every other President either did nothing of consequence or used his past presidency to enrich himself.
  18. Several years ago Jimmy Carter came to give a talk at Brandeis University where I work. Students were prepared to protest something he supposedly did to or said about Jewish people. However, he delivered such a brilliant speech and answered questions so skillfully that students seemed to forget what they were protesting. He won everyone over. That's what politicians do! But he was smart too. Much like Bert at the baseball game decades ago, I had to pee the whole time, but I still enjoyed it.
  19. Why? My impression is that escape clauses are requested, so that they can leave for a better contract if they do well. I would think he'd want that from both teams.
  20. They were terrible, but they had some great stories like Leflore and Hiller. Leflore was also my favorite from that era.
  21. Why Detroit, but not Boston? I understand he might prefer Boston because he'll probably hit better there and he might think they'll have a better chance to win. If that is what he wants though, why consider Detroit at all? If he only signs with Detroit for the money, why would he leave that contract for less money?
  22. Why would he need an escape clause for Detroit, but not Boston? If he doesn't hit in Detroit, he's not going to opt out because he'd be better off staying with the contract. He would only opt out if he hit well and thought he could get a better contract.
  23. Thank you. So, if some team wanted to make a bid for Sasaki, they would have to move money around BEFORE signing him and then they might not get him. So, I would say that he is worth that risk, but only if they are pretty confident they'll sign him.
