  1. I think it was kind of a fluke that everything came together at the same time. That doesn't take away from how fun and memorable it was, but I don't think they can come close to repeating it without some substantial moves this off-season.
  2. Probably true, but the strike that year turned me off. As a nine-year old who thought baseball was the most important thing in life, I couldn't understand why players would go on strike. On the other hand, baseball's first strike does make the season memorable.
  3. It was easy to figure out that Fielder would not age well. Another one was Cabrera.
  4. But keep Avila allstars like Skubal, Greene, Carpenter, Keith and Meadows.
  5. I once did a ranking of the top 20 most memorable Tigers seasons. I wasn't around for all of them, but I tried to imagine what it would have been like to be there. I think this season falls in the top 10. I can't find the list I made, but the top four were obvious: 1968 1984 1935 1945 More recently, 2006 has to be in there. 2011-2013 were great seasons, but there wasn't really one season in that span that stood out as memorable. There weren't any big surpises or drama. It was just stars doing what stars do. I think this season is up there with 06 and 87. It's kind of a mix between the surprise of 2006 and the end of season drama of 1987.
  6. This is not a popuar opinion in sports circles, but if they won it all this year and then never came close again, I'd be very dissapointed in this organization.
  7. That's exactly what I hear every time hear his name. Also Cade Smith is Kate Smith.
  8. Thanks for your analysis Brent Musberger!
  9. Who? Skubal? He's the best pitcher in baseball.
  10. Lichtman used them in UZR and he insisted that it was important to do so. His reasoning was that most errors are indicators of plays that definitely should have been made and that this information was valuable. I am not sure that has ever been changed.
  11. True, but I remember somebody on this board promising us we were going to love Baez. 😃
  12. This is probably true. I just hope they are able to retain their top players through their prims. I don't want another Tampa Rays situations where they have to trade anybody who is too good. It has worked OK for them, but the lack of continuity would not be so fun.
  13. I probably wasn't clear but I am thinking more in general than the small sample size of this series.
  14. Going to a play instead of a series deciding playoff game? If you were single and there was a hot chick involved, I could maybe OK it. But this is messed up.
  15. It work both ways, but I think it may hurt Detroit more because their relievers are not as dominant. It's similar to why an elite starter can go three times through a line-up. but an average one can't.
  16. Yes, This is a good point. It does take away the element of surprise when you see the same relievers over and over. It's not like the Tigers have dominating relievers.
  17. Nope, and this one is actually 4 days for me because Monday is a day off too. Tonight, I got a pizza, saw the northern lights in person for the first time and watched the Tigers.
  18. It would have been great to see them close out the series tonight, but I've got three days off from Friday to Sunday. After missing half the post-season due to work, I am looking forward to watching Skubal.
  19. Do you think Malloy is a useful guy?
  20. But they won the World Series when Reagan was President
  21. I try to save enough where I'll be OK if I get zero social security.
  22. Yeah, polls are less reliable than the used to be, but I'd still rather see Harris doing better than Trump in polling. I see this forum get very excited about good polls and then saying the polls are flawed or don't matter when it's bad news.
