  1. He was a useful player when he was used as a utlity player. They tried too long to make him a full-time third baseman. McKinstry is similar in that way. A long time ago in another forum, I ran into a big Brookens fans. I suggested that Brookens really wasn't that good and the guy went ape ****. He went through all the usual stuff - Brookens was clutch, he hit into a lot of tough outs, knew how to move to runner over and thart I needed to get my head out of my spreadsheets and watch the games. We had some "good debates".
  2. I was thinking 1.7 WAR over 140 games because hardly anyone plays 162 games anymore.
  3. He'll be back in Sptember. They didn't want to lose McKinstry. I guess he is their Tom Brookens.
  4. 1.7 WAR not 7 WAR
  5. I am thinking he would need to be like JD Martinez this year. .343/.438 .781 OPS, 123 OPS+ That would get him to 1.7 WAR in 40 games.
  6. I think the fewer people who watch Biden, the better. His declining communication skills are why Harris replaced him as the nominee.
  7. Sure, if Verlander is healthy enough to pitch he'd be fun to watch.

  9. I am not sure what you are aguing here. Gibson was not a problem at all. Anderson used him in a way which maximized his production. It wasn't like watching Cabrera playing through injuries at below replacement level performance year after year.
  10. Are you going to teach them all the waiver rules?
  11. Regardless, if they want to energize the youth vote, AOC is a good choice. I want Harris to win this election.
  12. I heard he spends a lot of time in Chicago.
  13. If Verlander could even be a good 5th starter, I'd like to see him back. Other than Granderson, he was probably my favorite Tiger from that period.
  14. If they want to get young people interested, then AOC is the way to go. College students love her.
  15. I think he'll have to have an OPS in the high 700s to valuable without a glove. He's not there yet, but it's too early to say that he'll never get there.
  16. Most players are that way. I don't have any problems with Verlander as a person. He doesn't hurt his teams as long as he is healthy. The problem he isn't healthy anymore.
  17. Only if they work. Would you want Cabrera back next year now that they have legit prospects at most posiions?
  18. The bar is low.
  19. The Nazis figured out that he courts their vote, but doesn't really care about them. Just like he treats everybody else.
  20. I think our tipping culture is weird.
  21. He doesn't seem to have a problem changing eveything else about the game. I agree.
  22. I don't want either one of them at this point. As much as I would have liked Verlander to finish his career as a Tiger, they don't need another pitcher who will spend most of the season on the IL.
  23. I am never sure about the tip jars. I usually give them something if they are pleasant. I do not know what is expected though. Are they like waiters and waitresses who are paid low wages and are expected to make money on tips? For me, that is main reason to give tips. Thus, I always give them 20% plus to servers regardless of the quality of service. Frankly, it's often easier to order standing up rather than waiting for a waiter to to take my order and then waiting again at the end of my meal to get a bill. I appreciate the work that they do, but they aren't really performing a necessary service for me and I only pay them because they need the money. I don't eat out that much and when I do it's often because I'm in a hurry after a long day of work and I don't feel like preparing a meal. I'd rather tip the cook and dish washer.
  24. I think it's pretty impressive that he has done what she has politically at her age against a bunch of connected and experienced old farts. She gets a lot of attention (both negative and positive) because she is young and attractive and outspoken, but I believe she is smart.
