  1. The idea of replacing Darnold right now just feels like trying to fix something that’s working perfectly well. If they want to get Stafford, they should do it in the offseason, to replace Darnold but as a bridge to McCarthy. I still think they could be the next landing spot for McAfee’s golden boy Aaron Rodgers. Complete the Favre trajectory.
  2. Just finished reading Hillbilly Elegy. What a self-aggrandizing and backstabbing prick JD Vance is. It's like watching someone get all the right numbers despite not having any of the books they're contained within. A miracle. But instead of putting them together into an answer that contains something good for the world, he gets the entirely wrong answer, tells everyone in his community who didn't make it that it's their fault they didn't get those numbers, and then starts kicking at their hands on the fast exiting train towards generational wealth. The unwritten epilogue is a gem too. Where he abandons his communities entirely and decides that being a sycophant, attached forever at the hip to a wannabe dictator, who would sell him down a river - plausibly instruct his millions of cult-like followers to kill him - in an instant if it benefitted him, is a better life than living a less successful life behind the scenes in Middletown, OH or Jackson, KY.
  3. Interesting comments from Campbell in his presser. Said last year (presumably after the suspension), they hung a rope to Jamo and were taking off with or without him. Said he started to climb the rope and joined them, but may have lost his grip a little. Said he has no doubt he’ll start climbing again. Sounded pretty certain they wouldn’t have him on Sunday.
  4. This still hasn’t been made official by the league. Given that Jamo already made a comment on it, there’s clearly something going on, but the delay could mean any number of things. Can’t help but feeling it’ll somehow screw the Lions though. Either delayed so he misses the Packers and Texans instead of Titans and Packers, or a four- or six-game suspension instead of the original two that was reported.
  5. the Titans top three corners to start the year were out in week seven. Jamal Adams has since been cut because he quit on the team, Chidobe Awuzie is on IR and can’t return until next week, and L’Jarius Sneed didn’t practice at all last week. Their linebacking corps is good not great to start with. The run game will be tested because that defensive front is good. But ASB will be a man going up against boys in their secondary.
  6. Feels like an overpay to be honest. Hopkins is 32 and only started three games for the Titans.
  7. It’s also easy to forget that Darnold is younger than Joe Burrow. Only six months older than Hendon Hooker for that matter. The Jets probably took 15 years from his life, but it’s not unfathomable that this isn’t some flash in the pan resurgence that is sure to fade.
  8. Yep. For pre-election interference and disenfranchisement, I worry about Georgia. But that damage is largely done. But actual straight faced **** you election theft? That screams Texas. Abbott will order election workers to stop counting in El Paso County (likely +300k for Harris), claiming without proof that there are tens of thousands of illegals voting there. Thus starts the extended legal battle and grass roots effort to delegitimize the whole thing. On the bright side, if it’s close enough in Texas that they have to cheat, she probably won’t need Texas.
  9. I wonder how much of this is thanks to Dan Campbell’s aggressiveness. All but his first season were under Campbell. Most if not all NFL punters can send a punt 40+ yards. If you’re across midfield though, you don’t want to boom it, for obvious reasons. Which means punts from the opponents’ 40, which are fair caught at the 10, bring down both the net and gross punt distances. Under Campbell though, if you get across midfield and it’s 4th and <5, you ain’t punting. Punting is for the weak. So if you’re a punter under Campbell, the vast majority of your punts are coming from your own territory, where you can let it rip.
  10. The Vikings trading for Stafford would be stupid. They only have a 1st and two 5ths in 2025, and Darnold looks better than Stafford.
  11. What did those nerds ever do to you??
  12. I mean, I'm nothing but a vote in an important state and I did my part. Harris definitely shouldn't sit around though, I agree with you there. I think she's doing the right thing by going into Texas and campaigning. Georgia didn't flip on its own, or overnight. The six battlegrounds are obviously important, but if you flip one Texas, it's effectively game over. You're only four electoral votes away at that point. Pick just one of the six. And candidly, if you flip Texas, you're probably winning all six anyway. From the 5000-foot view where I sit though, I'm skeptical it will flip quite yet. I'm also skeptical of the electoral integrity of the Texas infrastructure if it's close.
  13. I'll believe TX is going to flip blue when it happens. Cruz is vulnerable though. He's so damn unlikeable.
  14. Yep. A player today who did exactly what Jamo did would be suspended two games. So he should have two games in the bank!
  15. Don’t they owe Jamo two games anyway? His gambling that got him suspended six games (later reduced to four) is now just a two-game suspension. They should just call it even.
  16. Probably both the best OL and DL in football.
  17. If I wasn't a season ticket holder, I'd probably be right there with you. I like being able to mix it up throughout the season, having a couple night games and Mondays mixed in. I have my 1pm kick routine that I love, but it's nice to mix it up over the course of a season. For that matter, every road game could be a 1 or 4 kick and I'd be good with that.
  18. I think there are some terrible people in every fan base. No fan base is small enough to avoid it. There are definitely more bad people in some (Eagles, Raiders, Browns) than others (Bills, Jaguars). I tend to think that the Lions fall into the latter category, but I have rose-colored glasses on in that assessment. I've been to over 30 games at Ford Field in the last four years, from the blowouts in 2021 to the playoff wins last year, and the worst I have seen was two Lions fans getting into it after one called the other trash (spoiler alert: they were both trash). Even when I saw drunk Bucs fans at Hockeytown Cafe being obnoxious after the week two game, running around the party deck with a Bucs flag, people just ignored them or reminded them of the Divisional Round.
  19. Compare that with 2022 Detroit: 16x Sunday 1pm, 1x SNF (flex)
  20. Two games for PEDs?! For that few games it’s going to be something incredibly stupid I already know.
  21. Lions are also already on SNF in week ten against the Texans. That would be back to back weeks.
  22. This just happened in Georgia-Texas this weekend, but was even worse because they picked up the flag after like a five minute delay because Texas fans were throwing bottles on the field. Talk about positive reinforcement!
  23. An SF defensive back needed to lay him out at the tail end of the run. It sounds bad and would start a fight, but that’s what he’s asking for running like that. I don’t think there’s a way to write this out of the rules. The boundary lines are what they are. Just need to let him get smoked at the edge of the boundary and not have it be a penalty. He’s a runner, he’ll be treated like one. And also a note for Adam Schefter - the “Magic of Mahomes” this year has more picks than TDs through seven weeks. Tied for the league lead in interceptions.
  24. I don’t think Tennessee is good enough for this to be a trap game, even if the Lions did overlook them. There’s just no one of note on offense for them. They’ll try to run with Pollard but when that doesn’t work, because it never works against the Lions, they’ll be forced to throw with either Levis or Rudolph, and that’s a recipe for disaster (for them). Trap games come against 6-11 or 7-10 teams. Good enough to win most games, bad enough for it to not matter. Tennessee is closer to a 3-14 team. Just bad.
