The pass rush literally looks like they don't know what to do when the offensive line gives them a free shot at Purdy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lions go for two again. If you like your odds to go at least 1/2 on two consecutive attempts, you have nothing to lose, and possibly the game winning point to gain.

I don't think they'll even delay it really. When the big dogs say goodbye, they're leaving and not looking back, even if those they are leaving throw a temper tantrum.. At most, they'll get some relatively small amount of money to make them go away. I would love to see relegation. It would be awesome. But the Vanderbilts, Northwesterns, Kentuckys, and Illinois of the world have enough friends to prevent it. Rutgers doesn't, they could be relegated and no one would care.

I just remembered that Terrion Arnold was on the injury report for an illness earlier in the week. I wonder if he's still feeling it? Would help explain just how bad a first half he's had.

I agree. This defense went 12 straight quarters without allowing a touchdown earlier this season. Now they can't stop a cold, let alone touchdowns. They're not the same and I'm worried about the next few weeks. But I'm also not throwing in the towel.

I have my own rant about that.

In fairness, they are 7-0 on the road this season. Counterintuitively, the patchwork defense may have an easier time on the road, when the crowd is quiet and they don't have to rely on silent signals.

With the defense, my hope is that knowledge of the season situation (even if not consciously) is contributing to the lackluster performance tonight. If your body knows that you have a bigger game in six days, you may only be giving your 80% without even meaning to. I also do think getting Anzalone back will make a difference, at least in the run game.

Several strong contributors, highlighted by Puka Nakua, were selected after Jake Moody in that draft. I just don't understand selecting special teams contributors that early, when you can bring ten UDFA kickers into training camp and likely find a competent kicker in the bunch.

Love Moody for what he did in Ann Arbor, but there is a reason you don't take kickers in the 3rd round.
