  1. I'll let you be on your own with that comparison. But to your initial question, I care. ETA - I think there's a misunderstanding - you said in both situations they are being targeted and actually on one of my situations there as a very huge decreasing in the targeting so it's not true that in both circumstances there's equal prevalence of targeting. And again, if pre-war and post war had equal target prevalence, why was did literally everyone here ignore it per-war?
  2. This is an interesting comparison. I don't want to get pedantic and clearly it depends on what constitutes targeting, but I remember dozens of discussions on this forum at that time where people that posted here targeted Muslims/Arabs after 9/11 and I don't think they were necessarily rw nutjobs. The Ground Zero mosque fights we had in this forum come to mind instantly.
  3. I think it's important b/c I contend that the shaming wouldn't be happening to nearly the extent it is right now if it weren't for the killing associated with the war.
  4. It seems we're in agreement that there's a component of this is that is actions-related - you mentioned doing bad things and 9/11 - not necessarily 100% based on religion/ethnicity. I would contend that if there's no war going on (killing), there's no (or maybe way less?) shaming going on as portrayed in the video. If that shaming was going on pre-war, then we have a lot of people here who ignored it pre-war and are now castigating those they allege are currently ignoring what they themselves blissfully ignored until a few days ago.
  5. Bring it holic
  6. Like when I watch that video and see them chanting "shame" - I don't think they're chanting shame that he's Jewish, it's shame that apparently inherent in his Jewishness is that he supports Israel killing Palestinians. That's obviously really not a good or appropriate generalization to make regarding Jewish people (Trump does it all the time), but I think the distinction is important.
  7. It feels to me that the hate isn't necessarily because of religion, it's because of killing. Maybe the distinction isn't super important but when I think "anti-semitism" I think it's hatred b/c they're Jewish, whereas I think what we're seeing here is happening b/c there's killing happening.
  8. What criteria was used to categorize the people in the video as leftists?
  9. I'll take Buck over the current incarnation of Gus Johnson 10 out of 10 times
  10. Made me check if dogpile is still around and apparently it is!
  11. That guy who Chas posted who said "PLUS all killers are stopped by good...." Many mass shooters kill themselves. He seems to be claiming that those mass shooters who take their own lives are "good".
  12. Right after you let facts get in the way of your preferred social policy.
  13. so wait - if the killer's victim is already dead, there's nothing good guys with guns can do?
  14. Maybe I shouldn't have had any higher expectations of the folks that told me for decades the 2nd Amendment was awesome because they could stop a tyrannical government..... then they voted for a tyrannical government, did nothing to stop the tyranny, and also played coup errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr tourist at the capitol in order to try to keep the tyrannical government in power.
  15. So society has to endure all of the ills that come with everyone being armed, so that good guys can stop bad guys. Then when they get that rare chance to stop the bad guy with a gun, they defecate the sleeping facilities. This sucks bad.
  16. I dropped twitter cold turkey about 1 or so months ago. I feel less informed about unimportant stuff. I hear way less about Musk. I hear way less about the minutiae of politics that won't matter 3 days from now. I catch up using post.news but it's not nearly as active. I miss twitterduring games. I miss the truly hilarious and talented accounts like the pitchbot or the football coach but overall to hell with musk and zuck
  17. Super great show.
  18. Mike Pence, famous for once almost getting hung by Maga at the Capitol, is suspending his presidential camp pain.
  19. They're projecting. Trump & friends repeatedly planted winger "reporters" and questions.
  20. Does the speaker of the house know the difference between a heart and a mind?
  21. They didn't even do anything after Scalise was shot. It's a damn joke. A really bad and deadly one.
  22. NPR going comedy? They just asked if congress was going to do anything in response to the latest shooting.
  23. I could be wrong about this but my understanding is there's a popular theory on the right that the mental illness problem isn't that people have mental illnesses and need help... it's that anti-depressant meds are causing people to do these shootings.
  24. Since guns don't kill people, people kill people, maybe it would be a good idea to give people-killing people unfettered access to guns!
