  1. My neighbors granddaughter is 14 and looks like she is 23. She races dune buggies (so she drives well) and I can see how an adult male could be visually fooled. That is, until she talks....a 14 year old, no matter how they look, will expose their true age when they speak more that 30 words. No adult male would be fooled unless they want to be fooled.
  2. That's fair. He used to drive me batty but I grew to appreciate him and it became obvious that he and Dan really enjoyed each other's company.
  3. I'll take "things beyond my comprehension" for 200 Alex. 🙂
  4. The nicest man I have ever met. I've shared the story many times around these parts but at the 2006 ALDS game (Bonderman game), Philpott and I were hanging down near the batting cage behind the net. He came over and just chatted with us for a good ten minutes. He was just incredibly happy to engage with us.
  5. I despised him and Ozzie during the mid-2000's but in hindsight I get it. Baseball needs characters like them.
  6. Mr. Paulson preferred to have Meat and Loaf separated thank you very much 😝
  7. No one eliminates the click....things would go south fast! The voice guide is optional only for the leader to remove depending on if we're sticking to the original version or if we want to go off the path and shorten/extend any song. ETA: in that video you'll notice that the guy (guitarist) whose IEM we are listening to doesn't have any drums in his mix. I might add a little snare but the click really keeps things in time.
  8. There is a musical director (MD) who has a mic only the musicians can hear and there is the voice built into the tracks which can be switched on and off so you nailed it. Depending on who is playing any Sunday, the MD either has to talk a lot or very little. We have iPads with our sheet music and an app to control our mix. I'll try to grab a picture next time I play to show you what it's like. For my mix, the click track, lead vocalists and MD are high up while everyone else is down. Fun fact: we get the songs on Tuesday or Wednesday and then have to learn our parts on our own. Sometimes they're songs we've played before so that's easy because I already have the notes on the ipad (and hopefully am assigned the same EG part - we have two EG parts which are always different from each other for layering). We show up at 8:30 Sunday morning, play the set once and then go live at 9:30 and again at 11:15. No rehearsal other than that. Know your parts, follow the click and the MD direction. Pack it up...go home. I'm not tooting my horn when I say this but not just anyone can do that.
  9. I don't know we've never done it. We went halfway last year. My wife wants to go early this year so we can do the whole bridge so we'll see.... We get a hotel the night before, get up, eat breakfast and head to the bridge. We hang around St Ignace after the bridge walk because of the traffic backup (which clears out by about 1:30). Plan on 6 hours back from the bridge to GR as tons of people with campers are heading south after the holiday weekend.
  10. I have no knowledge or understanding of Midi tbh. We do use click tracks with vocal cues which helps keep everyone on the roadmap (especially for songs in 6/8)! The church I used to go to had Midi into our floor boards so that we never had to tap the delay tempo. I've been playing at a different church now and everything is there but the Midi so I have to tap tempo (which is no big deal). On that note, I do have a tube amp for when no one is home but I am 99% digital now with my Helix. It is amazing. If anyone else has one, I have some great patches that I'd love to share. Only one of them is metal! 🤣 Here's a video that really captures what we hear in our IEM:
  11. A mixture but yes Derek did a lot of the main vocals on the first album.
  12. You can walk as far as you want. You start at one end and most people go halfway and then walk back (that's about 5 miles) but you can turn around at any point or you can walk the whole distance as there is a ferry service back to where you started. You can walk on the grate (which doesn't start until about a mile from the start) or just walk on the solid surface. When you get back, there are people handing out certificates which I though was kinda nifty.
  13. Cats are the nemesis of flat-earthers because if the world were actually flat, cats would have pushed everything over the edge.

  15. Pasties. I tried one at this little place up by the falls and it was horrible. Then I tried one in St. Ignace and it was fantastic. We bought some frozen ones to bring home. Also, if you haven't done the bridge walk on Labor Day, that is really cool too. Plan on a parking nightmare when you get there but exiting is velvety smooth thanks to the MSP.
  16. Because I limit the streaming services I pay for because I'm cheap and don't have the time/patience to watch a lot of tv, I have gone back to the beginning of "Better Call Saul" and am amazed at how much I forgot. I love it more the second time through.
  17. I met him once. His handler told me to mention how much older he was than his wife because it was one of his favorite things to hear. In hindsight I think I was set up. Still he was very kind and engaging.
  18. Oh, okay, I fell asleep about 23 seconds in because Soccer.
