  1. That's why signing a veteran guy Kevin Zeitler on a 1 year deal makes a lot of sense too. I would imagine the Guard they could potentially draft would be someone with the versatility to play Center as well to replace Ragnow when he's gone or if he gets hurt. You ride with that player as a Guard for year one and then slide him over to center when Ragnow does leave. So next year you have Decker/Rookie/Ragnow/Zeitler/Sewell up front with Glasgow and Sorsdal as your primary backups at the Guard position.
  2. I very much think Guard is in play for the 1st round pick and that isn't a bad thing to have another offensive lineman under team control on a rookie wage scale.
  3. Brad Holmes in free agency is like those Colonial Penn commercials with Alex Trebex talking about the 3 P's. Remember the 3 P's of Brad Holmes free agency: price, price, and price. A price that's team friendly, a price that allows them cap flexibility, and a price they don't have to commit to beyond 2-3 years.
  4. My expectation going into free agency was that we would be out on all of the "big" names. I thought we'd be more aggressive on days 2, 3, and beyond. I expect us to be looking at someone like Stephon Gilmore today as another nice signing to shore up the CB position. I could also see us being in on a starting veteran Guard at the right price. So if we signed a veteran like Dalton Risner or Kevin Zietler I wouldn't be at all surprised. I also expect a depth signing or two at the DT spot. I expect Josh Reynolds to be back on a 2-3 year deal with a voidable third year option as well. The one name mentioned there, Chase Young, is someone I'd still be willing to take a flyer on for a 1 year prove it deal if we could get it done. But he is simply not a culture fit for them and so it won't happen.
  5. I wonder why the organization chose to trade draft capital away for Davis as opposed to signing a guy like Fuller? Cost? Scheme fit? Culture fit? A combo of some form of those things and maybe more?
  6. I think Sneed and Fuller are the CB1s that are available. Kendall Fuller had an 83 PFF grade and being asked to be Washington's CB1 last season, covering the top WRs from the opposing team.
  7. Durability is apart of overall success. If injuries impact your level of play and you can't be your team's primary CB to cover another teams WR1 that could be an issue. I like Davis as a player from what I've read and I don't hate the trade value given that they gave up a late 3rd for him. I just don't know whether we got a CB1 here or another CB2 that we're going to force in there to go against the top receivers we'll face next year.
  8. I don't think injury concerns dissuade Holmes. If the players medicals clear the team and they like the guy they will acquire him. I also think this move gives them more flexibility in the draft to just go and take the BPA on their board and not feel like they have to worry about need in any capacity.
  9. I don't hate the player by any means, just as I don't hate Cam Sutton either. I just don't know if we acquire our CB1 that will be our primary corner going up against other teams WR1. In Tampa I believe Jamel Dean was their CB1 and received a lot of the top matchups.
  10. Because we need a corner capable of covering a team's WR1 and Sutton got burnt in several games last year covering other teams WR1.
  11. This also means we're out on trading for Sneed or signing Fuller probably right?
  12. Is Davis a big upgrade over Sutton? On paper he doesn't seem to be. Bot not having watched a ton of Bucs games, I don't if he passes the eyeball test of being markedly better than Sutton and taking on the CB1 responsibilities of covering the opposing teams WR1.
  13. Looking at the numbers for him and Sutton, they seem like similar players. A PFF grade of 58 with 52 tackles and 2 INTs on 79 targets for Davis. A 56 PFF grade, with 65 tackles and 1 INT on 89 targets for Sutton.
  14. I saw the Vikings uniform as the x was loading and almost jumped out of my chair thinking it was us signing Hunter.
  15. I expected Romeo to be back on a 1 year deal.
  16. They may like what they have at the edge with Hutch, Houston, Paschal, and Okwara. Who knows.
  17. Yeah, I guess their stats aren't so dissimilar. Sneed only had 2INTs to go along with 78 tackles. Newsome could have gotten another 10-12 tackles had injury not kept him out 4 games. So in the end, they would have been statistically close to one another. Newsome had and almost 15 point higher PFF grade than Sutton too. So upon further review, I take back what I said earlier about Newsome and I guess I'd be alright with the Lions acquiring him.
  18. Another potential Lion off the market in Denico Autry.
  19. Is Newsome a guy who is significantly better than Cam Sutton and a CB1 type of player? He's not on PFFs top 32 list either. So they have 32 other starters ranked ahead of him. Maybe I am getting too hung up on this idea of who is and isn't CB1 material and having two good players back there at CB versus a true, #1 lockdown guy is suffice.
  20. Grant Newsome had a 69.7 PFF grade, 49 tackles, 2INTs in 13 games started last year. While I think Newsome is a nice player, he seems like yet another CB2 type of guy. We have two CB2s on our roster already, we don't need to add another one IMO.
  21. I think given the Guard market we are going to be drafting one in the first or second round.
  22. Several Lions potential targets off the board now with Huff, Van Ginkel and Wilkens gone. I hope we're in the market for Hunter and Fuller.
  23. WOW, I didn't even recall this story being a thing. Apparently Armstead accused Skipper of dropping the N-bomb in games. Just looking this up, I don't see any player corroborating what Armstead said about Skipper. It also looks like Armstead has resorted to calling people a f*g himself on Twitter.
