Joe Harris doesn't play defense from what I understand right? So we brought in a 3 point shooter who doesn't play defense to try and trade another 3 point shooter in Bogdanovic who doesn't play defense? You can't put Harris and Bogdanovic on the floor at the same time if neither plays a lick of defense right?

Debrincat played on Ottawa's second line with Joshua Norris as his Center and not Tim Stutzle. Had he played on their first line I bet his numbers are up. If he comes here and plays on our first line with Larkin and Raymond, I bet his numbers increase to, assuming Raymond continues to develop and isn't a liability.

25 year old players who score 35-40+ goals in a season on multiple occasions, with favorable trade conditions, don't grow on trees. If Yzerman doesn't doesn't think we are in position to take the next step and aren't ready for a guy like Debrincat then ok. But we were bottom 10 in every scoring metric and we have a chance to get a young, 35+ goal scorer. What's not to like about that?

How have we not drafted a winger yet and why draft another goalie? We need goal scoring and we drafted defense and goaltending in the 2nd and no goal scoring. That's a bummer. Also, I'm bummed out that Debrincat seems less and less likely now.

I'd like to draft Andrew Cristall I think. He doesn't have the size at forward we are looking for at forward at 5'9, but seems to have the goal scoring prowess we need. Last season he had 39 goals, 56 assists, and 95 total points.

Let me preface this by saying I liked both of the picks that Yzerman made. I liked the Danielson pick more than the Pellikka pick, as he has more offensive upside and production. But I still liked picking a smart, creative, puck moving defensemen who can QB the PP as well. Seems like the type of guy that can help add to our goal totals on the assist end and setting up scoring chances, which I very much like. I also recognize that Stevie, Hakan, and everyone in the front office watching hours of film and live games of these guys knows a **** ton more about these prospects then me. But I can't help feel like yet again we missed our opportunity to get our pure goal scorer, someone capable of putting up 30-35+ goals a season, by passing on the likes of Barlow, Benson, and Perrault in what was supposed to be a deep forward draft. So I say all that to ask this. In the next 2-3-4-5 seasons who is the player on this team or in the farm that is capable of scoring 35-40+ goals in a season and getting north of 70+ points in a season? Is it a necessity in today's NHL to have a 35-40+ goal scorer/70+ point guy on your team to advance deep into the playoffs given that Vegas just won the Cup without one on their team? If that player isn't on this team yet or in our farm system yet, where are we getting him then, if we even need too?

Does it make anyone feel better/should I be feeling better that Nate Danielson did what he did on a bad Brandon Wheat Kings WHL team? Does that matter at all that he excelled this past season in the WHL without a ton of talent around him on an under .500 team?

Perrault still on the board, but I highly doubt we'd trade up for him.

Matthew Wood seems to be both a hybrid wing/centre. What is he projected to play at in the NHL? Centre, no?

Oh, Wood still available. I'd be tempted to take him if we're going to play him at wing not centre. I thought he'd be gone by now, but he's still there.

Whichever one produces more points and scores more goals. Barlow scored 46 goals and 79 points in 59 games in the OHL. Seems like the natural goal scorer we need.
