  1. If we get Debrincat without having to give up a 1st I will be pleasantly surprised. I assumed a bidding war would start between 2-3-4 teams that he said he'd go to. But if not, and we really can get away with a trade that allows us to keep both 1sts, that's a steal for a60+ point producer and 30+ goal scorer.
  2. What a terrifying and unique horror movie. There is truly nothing like Skinamarink. If you watch it you'll either think it was the most innovative and terrifying film you've ever watched or think it is flat out stupid.
  3. Alt/Indie Country artists Turnpike Troubadours are going to be putting out a new album sometime in the near future. Here are two of the singles off their new album.
  4. I'd love to get an NHL ready player with one of our picks. That said, if we aren't trading either 9 or 17 and I'm forced to pick, I'd like to see us get one of Matthew Wood or Zach Benson at 9 and Colby Barlow at 17. I got my wish last year with Marco Kasper in the 1st, maybe I'll get it this year too with a big trade that Stevie Y has up his sleeve.
  5. Out here at the Hill Auditorium for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit tonight.
  6. Buddha thinks I'm crazy for being willing to give up the pick at #9 and #17 to get Debrincat. If a bidding war ensues between the Wings and another team or two or three, is it really that unrealistic of a thing to do? What are the odds that the players we draft at #9 or #17 will be as good or better than Debrincat?
  7. We're in the bottom 10 in goals per game at 2.89, bottom 10 in total goals at 237, bottom 10 in total assists at 403. I was all for tanking and rebuilding when we got rid of Holland. We did that and unfortunately didn't have an ounce of draft lottery luck, which sucked and slowed down our rebuild a small bit. We're now 4 years into the Yzerman regime and at some point we have to start adding NHL ready talent who can put the puck in the net. Debrincat is one of those guys. He's a multi-time 40+ and 30+ goal scorer and has had over 60 points 3 times in his career. If I have to throw in an extra pick or a pick and a prospect to do it, I'm willing to do so. If we aren't aggressive in doing what we can to add NHL ready talent now, then when is the time? I'm not saying we have to be stupid like Holland was with signing Frans Nielsen to a crazy contract. We can be both aggressive in trying to acquire a goal scorer or two and smart at the same time with the contract we offer. Do we continue the rebuild into next year? 2023-2024? 2024-2025? I'm all about tanking to rebuild when it makes sense, but that time period seems to be coming to an end for us. How long are you willing to continue the rebuild before you want to start adding NHL ready talent? Furthermore, do you believe the player we are drafting at #9 + Albert Johansson or another non-Kasper/Edvinsson prospect will be more productive than Debrincat? If so, are you willing to wait 2-4 years for the player we draft at #9 this year plus Johansson/other prospect to be better than Debrincat? If you don't want to wait to bring in NHL ready goal scorers, but aren't willing to do what it takes to get Debrincat, then who do you plan on adding? Alex Killorn? Ryan O'Reilly? Baby Bert? Vladimir Tarasenko? Travis Konecny? Ross Colton?
  8. I know we're not in either Troy or Monty's minds so we can't know for sure, but what do you think made them choose a player like Thompson over a guy like Taylor Hendricks? We need a wing who can shoot and guard multiple positions no? Hendricks, from scouting reports I've ready seems like someone who can do all of play the wing, be a decent on and off ball defender, and can shoot better that Thompson with a 39 3FG%? He also offers more length at 6'9 and can play Center if they go small. So why Thompson over Hendricks? I don't hate the pick, I'm just curious as to why.
  9. If multiple teams are after Debrincat would we not agree that a potential ensuing bidding war would drive up the price? If we do agree, what is the max you're willing to give up to get him if a bidding war breaks out? I'm willing to do our pick at #9 and potentially pair #17 with that as well because we need NHL-ready talent that can score now. I'm also willing to part with certain, top prospects like an Albert Johannsen in a trade deal, again, because we desperately need NHL-ready talent who can score.
  10. There is likely going to be a bidding war for Debrincat as he doesn't have a NTC in his contract I don't believe. So if there are lots of teams interested, and Ottawa then has leverage to shop him around, you can't start off a deal with #17 + a washed out prospect in Zadina. My guess is Ottawa would want either both firsts and a prospect or our pick at #9 + a prospect + Zadina at minimum. Maybe my deal was too rich to start, but with as many teams that are likely going to be in on Debrincat, no way do I think #17 + an underachieving prospect like Zadina gets it done.
  11. Even the good organizations and front offices, not lead by Tom Gores and Arm Tellem are passing on Whitmore. At what point do you say eff it, trade up, and go get him?
  12. It's the better shooter of the Thompson twins. We need the defense he'll bring something awful too.
  13. I'm ignorant on basketball knowledge compared to most here in the forum. But everything I read online about Gradey D. and everything I watch highlight wise makes me feel like he's Luke Kennard 2.0. Am I wrong in thinking this? How his Gradey different that Luke? As a reviewer on SB Nation put it he doesn't seem to have elite athleticism, a quick first step, length, great ball-handling skills , be an elite passer, or have the ability to draw fouls. He seems like a very talented spot shooter, who doesn't create his own shots, offering little else. How is that not Kennard 2.0?
  14. The first time I listened to his album Southeastern I got emotional through most of the songs on it. I think specifically I got misty eyed during Cover Me Up, Elephant, and Traveling Alone. Jason really brings out all of your inner most feelings and emotions with his songwriting and pulls you in to being apart of the song itself. He makes listening to his music such an enjoyable experience.
  15. Pride of Detroit: Player survey suggests NFL has done a horrible job teaching gambling policy It's an incredibly small and maybe ultimately useless sample size in the Athletic's player survey. But my guess is that if they had expanded it out and surveyed 100, 200, or more players the results would be similar. They would show that NFL players were largely unaware of the NFL's gambling policies and where a bet can and cannot be placed.
  16. But it seems it may be the case that across the league this was not communicated to players on most teams, not just the Lions.
  17. I expect the NFL, as I do any corporate business, to properly explain and train its team members on its policies and procedures.
  18. This years first round picks, Zadina, and a prospect like Albert Johansson would be my initial offer. Maybe these are just rumors on the internets, but it seems like Debrincat out of Ottawa. I don't know how much leverage they have to command the haul everyone thinks they might get hit him.
  19. SI: Everyone is Saying Jameson Williams Suspension Should be Decreased The more we learn about what your players didn't know about the NFL's gambling policy the more it's clear the Jamo suspension should be overturned or reduced.
  20. They don't have a #1 centre or a #1 winger right now capable of being their 85-90+ points a season guy and they need at least one of those. They also need another player capable of being between 75-85 points per season as well. I get that Vegas just won the Cup without having a guy north of 70 points on their team. But their defensive approach, a throwback to the NJ Devils days of the 1990s, seems like the exception. Though maybe that's how we need to proceed too and just build a defensive juggernaut with superb blueline play and goaltending. However, when you look at many of the top regular season and playoff teams from this past year, outside of Vegas, they had at least two players north of 70 points. Edmonton had 3 players (McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins), Tampa had 3 (Kucherov, Stamkos, Point), Colorado (McKinnon and Rantanen), Dallas had 4 (Robertson, Benn, Pavelski, Hintz), Florida had 2 (Tkachuck and Barkov). I like Larkin, and we've beat this discussion to death as fans, but it can't be understated that they need a #1 centre who is capable of crossing the 85-90 point mark on a consistent basis. We simply need more scoring at the position or at least to have him paired with an elite goal scorer where he can be more of a playmaker and distributor to get more assists. They also need a player at the wing capable of crossing the 75-80 point scoring mark on a consistent basis. And probably another winger who is either a pure goal scorer and is going to net you 30-35 goals per season or is capable of being between 55-60 points as well. Without more playmaking and ultimately scoring ability, this team will be stuck hovering around the .500 or .550 win mark it feels like. When you look up our scoring deficit, goals and assists, and compare it to other teams it is really glaring. We scored 237 goals, which was 9th worst in the league and we were far closer to the Blackhawks and Ducks at the bottom than we were to the Oilers and Bruins at the top. The top teams are scoring north of 280 goals. Same thing with assists, where we were tied for 11th worst in the league with San Jose. We had 403 total assists and many of the top teams had north of 470-480. When you add those numbers up, goals and assists, we're trying to make up for 100-110+ points in a season.
  21. Pride of Detroit: With new gambling policies, the NFL is admitting they screwed Jameson Williams I agree with what Jeremy Reisman wrote in the article and believe the NFL should do something about Williams suspension, but is too cowardly to ever admit wrong doing here. I think the Lions should do something as an organization, in protest, to fight the Williams suspension. It's clear from a survey of the players that almost none of them were made aware of the NFL's new gambling rules and procedures about where they can and can't bet.
  22. I want you to come out here and say that if and when Donald Trump is convicted of felony offenses related to the classified documents he unlawfully kept or the coup he attempted on January 6th to overthrow the election results and the democratically elected government of the United States that you won't support him and won't vote for him. Come out and admit that he is a convicted criminal if and when it happens. If Hunter Biden runs for President or you have provable evidence of his father engaging in illegal activity with him then I'll condemn Joe Biden for it. But come out against Trump if and when that happens.
  23. Glad to see you take felony offenses seriously today.
  24. If the league had been found to properly and effectively communicate its gambling policies with all its players I'd agree with the suspension. But when it comes out through player surveys that most of these guys didn't know the rules the league had imposed for gambling, it makes the suspension look worse.
  25. Straight up, I'd only agree to do it if the Jamo suspension was dropped. That's my asking price. Reinstate Williams and we'll do Hard Knocks. The gambling rule is bull**** anyways since it was a league and union HR policy that was clearly never properly communicated with the players.
