  1. The Baez who played for the NYM is worth 30M/year
  2. he was awesome with the Mets
  3. they are not done shuffling the roster, but Elvin was low on my list of additions, he got progressively worse as season went along
  4. Myers IMO would be a good addition. Grossman just had a career year, can he repeat? Baddoo could surge, also he could struggle. Greene and Tork will be in Detroit, but when? Miggy has huge injury and production risks at his age. It would not be a problem if they had 6 productive guys for 5 positions. He is waaaay overpaid, so SD would need to add a significant sweetener, and they are probably very motivated to gain some payroll flexibility.
  5. maybe, maybe not; but they need to have a plan B if the big market teams grab all the big FAs Taylor Walls or Joey Wendle of Tampa might be obtainable
  6. like the deal a lot, and Barnhart has 2 Gold Gloves, but the Reds team ERA with Stephenson catching in 2021 was way better. Fluke? or underlying issue?
  7. 7.5M is a bit much, but very few other options and just 1 year, and then Jake and Dingler join Haase. Greiner and Garneau will not be offered ML deals; either one at Toledo is fine on a minor league deal. Quintana is awful. If you are trying to read the tea leaves, this is an excellent first move considering Barnhart's salary.
  8. Avila may not be creative enough to do this, but if they sign FAs before the lockout, and pay big signing bonuses instead of 2022 salary, I wonder if they can game the system somewhat. like Chris Taylor - 4/60, with $12M signing bonus, and salaries of 3/15/15/15 to the extent there is a lockout, Taylor would lose just some of his $3M salary
  9. Colt Keith https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-conversation-with-detroit-tigers-prospect-colt-keith/
  10. the idea that Semien was going to be a bargain because of his age was always silly, and now this
  11. Lindor signed a 10 year, $341M deal starting his age 28 season Correa is entering his age 27 season, with better batting numbers than Lindor. Opening bid seems to be 10/340
  12. and the 3rd highest pick for the Tigers will be their CBB pick (around 60-66 overall), but that pick cannot be lost under the current system, so they would lose their 3rd round pick (their 4th highest).
  13. I don't think this was ever the case
  14. hard to see how he could even muster a Victor Reyes level of Rule 5 contribution at the ML level in 2022.
  15. Greene, and now Tork and Kreidler are out; but EDLR homers
  16. one thing to roll the dice on Tork and Greene contributing; quite different to roll with Haas, Garneau, Greiner, Dingler (who IMO will not see Det in 2022).
  17. G4: Tork 2/3, BB EDLR: BB Flores: 2 IP, R, H, 4 BBs, 2 Ks Hess: .1 IP, 1 H
  18. EDLR 1/4 and an OF assist
  19. Canha saw the 2nd most pitches per at bat; Grossman was 6th; so those 2 guys would really work the pitch count up
  20. I do not think DeJong would beat 2/$17M as a free agent, but that is what he is owed. so the player cost would be nominal (maybe more than Bryan Garcia but much more than Drew Carlton) Paul DeJong ss 6 years/$26M (2018-23), plus 2024-25 options 6 years/$26M (2018-23), plus 2024-25 club options signed extension with St. Louis 3/5/18 $1M signing bonus 18:$1M, 19:$1.5M, 20:$1.5M, 21:$4M, 22:$6M, 23:$9M, 24:$12.5M club option ($2M buyout), 25:$15M club option ($1M buyout) at signing, largest-ever contract for a player with less than one year of Major League service time
  21. different approach, but this is makes a lot of sense as well. seriously, do we know who is in charge of trades now? is it still Al, because I still have little confidence in his trading abilities
  22. AFL G2 yesterday: Tork 1/3 2BB; Kriedler (@2B) 0/3 BB; Fernander 1 IP, K
  23. Greene and Robson did their Baddoo-Hill routine; yikes!
