  1. problem with this is that Briceno has not caught once since his knee injury, and there were already significant questions if he could be competent as a major league C
  2. would not be shocking at all if this Winter they moved on from their 1st round picks from 2016 (Manning) 2017 (Faedo) 2018 (Mize) and 2020 (Tork). Could throw in 2022 maybe as well (Jung).
  3. Harris and Ilitch have multiple options to improve the team. Big trade. Little trades. Huge free agent signing. Multiple free agents. Still some glaring holes. 1. RH power 2. 8th and/or 9th inning Power Reliever, to go with Holton, Briske, Vest and Foley 3. 1B. I trust them to know if there is any hope of Tork being a consistent hitter. I don't see it. If Tork returns, they need a back up plan. 4. Baez. Same answer. I trust them to know if there is any hope. His 1st year in Det he had a 834 OPS vs LHP. Easy to see role as back up to Sweeney and Keith. But his approach remains just terrible and the antithesis of what they want. Surgery could fix something, or be the final nail in the coffin. Assuming he is not a clubhouse problem. 5. 3B. Jung’s approach is really nice, but no HR and poor D. 6. SP. Harris has signed 2 SPs each Winter so far. Will do so again. 7. C. Need better than Dingler. Hinch probably wants a LH.
  4. all these missed chances are going to make either extra sweet or extra painful
  5. Liranzo will start I assume at Erie; he will just 21; he has played in 2 of 3 AFL games, both as C; if he can stay there, what a bonus
  6. if they can scrape together 3 runs, they can win
  7. ball hit yellow line - not a home run?
  8. Mike Rogers is registered to vote at a house that does not yet exist.
  9. same number of times he flew with Epstein. Coincidence?
  10. in addition to his late draft round, 2 other memorable stories about Carpenter: he sat for a great MLB Network interview, where he described how his mom and sister convinced him he could actually play pro ball; it wasn't the usual vapid interview; his goal was to join military like Hinch, his dad died before his MLB debut; Hinch talked a little bit about that when Carp cam up
  11. just like that, the Magic is back. what a team.
  12. 2 at home and then if needed, Skubal. gee, its almost as if Hinch knows what he is doing
  13. Kwan wasn't sure he caught it clean; nothing on reply to overturn that
  14. cannot waste this performance, guys.
  15. Maybe Malloy blossoms into more than just a RH DH; maybe Ibanez crushes LPH all year instead of 1/2 a season; maybe Dingler puts up a OPS over 500; even so, they need RH power hitter; does not have to be a free agent; easier written than done, but if they can pry from another team an established young bat - maybe one who is on same time line as the current core - they can then spend FA money on pitching
  16. didn't they make a big deal about his health preventing him from continuing in the Land of Cleve?
  17. He was using a cane on picture day in September to get around, so it could be that he is actually not comfortable traveling? Possible he fits as a RH defender behind Keith and Sweeney, but you are 100% correct that his approach just does not fit at all with what the Tigers want to do.
  18. Hinch has been in playoff mode for 2 months now, yet they play so loose. If they scrape together some runs, they will keep winning.
  19. SWEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
  20. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
  21. AJ just wanted to have lots of guys pop their playoffs cherries
  22. she said she was 14 or 15 when Rose started "dating" (raping) her. rose said she was 16 (age of consent in Ohio) and they only had sex in Ohio (not other states with stricter ages of consent). just a vile human being. another less upsetting Pete Rose story: in the 70s, one winter he went to Japan where they were starting to go crazy over baseball. He did some appearances and card shows, and came back to Cincinnati with $10,000 cash in his suitcase. When customs asked him what was going on, he said he wanted to get paid in cash so he did not have to pay taxes. They called his lawyer and he came to the airport and assured them that Rose would declare the $10K and pay taxes. The next winter, he went back to Japan, did some appearances and card shows, and came back to Cincinnati with another $10,000 cash in his suitcase. When customs asked him what was going on, he said he wanted to get paid in cash so he did not have to pay taxes. Again, they called his lawyer and he came to the airport and assured them that Rose would declare the $10K and pay taxes. just crazy example of guy who has no intention of playing by the rules, even when he is caught, and the system totally enabled him to break the rules.
