    maybe you could have argued for Jobe to jump up if things were going well and there was just one hole to plug; too many holes on both sides of the ball to overcome lack of talent and depth (or what Chas said)

    I do think that VP picks can be helpful. Obama picked Biden, an old white man for a reason. Trump picked Pence, a "christian" seemingly normal person for a reason. Romney and Ryan made some sense. Getting a purple state governor like Beshar or Cooper would be interesting choice.

    expected Senior from no-name school to sign for well under slot, but that's really low. 194K for the Tigers to use elsewhere. possible 5th (overdraft), 6th (senior) and 7th (little school) rounders will all sign for underslot as well

    maybe. maybe not. even with Javy's contract, they are $50 under the ML midpoint for payroll, so "we can't do anything big until Javy's contract is over" is pure nonsense; they can spend if they wanted to, with or without his $ on the ledger IF - and that's a huge IF - getting rid of Javy's contract would lead to more FA spending, then great, but it currently should not be stopping them

    the faster Harris finds a suitable SS replacement - and he has not done so in 2 years - the faster he gets to tell Ilitch to eat $50 to 75M

    it would be incredibly disappointing if Harris & Co took less talent in any trade to get Ilitch out from under Javy's deal.

    someone else mentioned the early love for Peyton Graham and Izaac Pacheco, a pair of 2nd rounds picks going nowhere fast. development is not a straight line and baseball is very hard. not sure how to differentiate this year's good job!, with previous years' good job!

    i'll say again, the deal would need to irrational. 5 or 6 guys from the top 15 of your system. Harris should not settle for a good return or a solid deal; needs to be a bat-sh** crazy offer (and i'll say this again: Skubal, Jobe, Flaherty, Olson, Mize/Manning/Montero/Maeda/Madden, is a pretty nice rotation going forward)
