Ilitch must be thrilled they are down to about 61M for 2024 payroll

Lots of bs from Harris about how he expected Turnbull to compete for rotation All that fight about service time for nothing
-
nope, I am not; Harris only works for the Tigers; 😉 ; the LAD can afford - both literally and figuratively - to be "wrong" about YY, and keep on keeping on; if the Tigers sign YY for 10/200 and he is a 5th starter thru 2033, that would be a huge problem
-
spending $200M on a guy who has thrown 0 MLB pitches would be a calculated risk; cannot see Harris doing this https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/diamondbacks-tigers-interested-in-yoshinobu-yamamoto.html

not sure why SD trades the one player they have who is vastly over-performing his salary, but getting Kim would be awesome, provided they can sign him to an extension. different player, but his production is what you hope Keith or Jung could do. also, they still have no one anywhere in the system to replace Baez should he continue on his current trajectory. Kim would be that guy. also, would be nice to get into the market for top Korean and later Japanese players

Univision's new Cuban owners, friends with Jared, really want Trump to be president

Dingler and Flores added

Truth Social hemorrhaging money; I am certain that Trump will take the financial hit when it implodes rather than passing those losses onto his followers

Padres want to contend next year w/200MM payroll, but they have many, many issues to sort out

Week Ten: Detroit Lions (6-2) @ Los Angeles Chargers (4-4)
RatkoVarda replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
who are you gonna believe? some random 5 year NFL vet? or a highly-opinionated poster? -
this is the way. there are a huge number of Americans who consume almost no news. they are probably more aware that Trump is the massively successful businessman who had a hit show on NBC then that he tried to overthrow the government. Was at a party this Summer and talking to some rando and mentioned J6 and he said "what ever happened with that? did Trump ever leave?" literally, he was not sure if Trump was in DC or MAL. Pretty sure that guy is going to vote in 2024. the delta in states that matter was under 100k in both 2016 and 2020 - every vote counts - at least there it does

force-feeding Gibbs in the Carolina game really helped get him going; the Chi game might be a good opportunity to try the same w/Williams -
I assume they a temporary restraining order teed up already

this guy will end up voting for Trump a third time because Dems will force him to, but still a good tweet Erick Erickson @EWErickson The GOP is no longer a national party. It is a collection of disparate regional parties. In some areas, the party wins by being tied to Trump. In some areas, it loses by being tied to Trump. What wins in pro-Trump areas and what wins in anti-Trump areas are incompatible, which means the party's coalition is unstable and unworkable nationally. It allows the Democrats, if they are more united, to win nationally against a party divided against itself whose base is chiefly motivated to funding and voting for one man and not the party or other candidates. The candidate is the cause whereas, for Democrats right now, the cause is the candidate embodied in whoever's name happens to be on the ballot.

if the price was 9/330, the Nats or Padres would have locked him up already next Winter, Boras will ask for 15/600M for Soto; that's 40M per year, ages 26 to 40 Judge got 9/360M, that 40m per year, ages 31-39 IMO that Soto and Boras will get well over 500M

No, he's still has other civil matters pending from other women; and he is suing the Athletic as well. I think he'd be a huge distraction, though not necessary all his fault

Twins are cutting payroll, from 154MM to something lower; ALC was always there for the taking; more true now

one simple answer is the media made mad $$$ when Trump was in office; the bottom line is best served by 1) Trump in office with constant outrage, next best is 2) new dem blood, which would drive some interest and maybe pull in some young folk; and lastly 3) Biden, a really boring old dude
-
remember that Trump is a buffoon and so are many of his wacky band of hangers-on; but simultaneously, they are all very dangerous

just voted - no line - straight Dem - need to keep just one house to stop sweater-vest wearing fascist Youngkin

this if from the Atlantic article; had to share Meanwhile, millions of voters are folding their arms like shirty children and threatening to sit out the election because they don’t like their choices. Some are threatening to withhold support, in particular, for Joe Biden if they don’t get their way about student loans, climate change, or policy toward Israel. They are living in a booming economy that is outperforming any other developed nation since the start of the pandemic on many measures—and they are miserable and angry about it. Many voters resent hearing all of this. They think they are being bullied into a binary choice between two candidates they do not like, and so they engage in wishcasting: If only someone could beat Trump for the GOP nomination (no one will); if only Biden would step down (he won’t); if only America didn’t rely on the Electoral College (it does); and so on.
