  1. Cecconi is Cleveland's worst starter fwiw..so that's good.
  2. If you take out Tork's 5 homer explosion, this is his slashline: .164/.294/.231 11 RBI, 8 R, 1 HR Via a tweet from @Tigersdata
  3. Javy is a defensive improvement...yes it is sad that he's also an offensive improvment..but he doesn't solve their slugging problem.
  4. They don't have enough diverse hitting profiles. They have productive hitters...or hitters who hit for contact and have no pull power(Keith)...or a guy who had 5 good games and then is brutal the rest of the time(Tork). Both of these guys have no defensive value to offset their hitting inconsistency.
  5. Harris is relying on inertia for a lot of the roster issues. Things will eventually work out if you throw a bunch of guys at the problem. Cleveland and Milwaukee are much more ruthless and know they can't spend above a certain level. They identify which guys they won't pay and move them before the value declines.
  6. Stats: The Tigers have a 74 Rc+ in May...dead last in AL in slugging..dead last in Fangraphs WAR. The pitching will eventually stabilize. This is the offense..nobody is coming to save it aside from Gleyber coming back and producing more. Javy will help with defense and removing an unnecessary platoon guy...Tigers keep punting a decision on what Tork is..but they still need him to be average and he can't consistently do it. Carpenter regressed and is hurt again..Greene, McGonigle, and Dingler are good. They don't have enough mid players. The rest of the team just drops off to awful.
  7. deck chairs...Seabold activated; Vanasco optioned.
  8. And Tork doesn't hit enough to justify his abymsal defense. Baez is an athlete and he can cover either SS or CF at an adequate level. That allow Kevin McG to play 3rd(another black hole).
  9. Barring anything unforeseen, Mize should return on Saturday.
  10. Tigers won the first two road games of the year..are 5-19 since. They been swept by Arizona, Minnesota, and now New York(0-10).
  11. pitching development has been a problem.
  12. I can't really answer that...probably not much.
  13. Carpy is always hurt and his performance is never complete for a full season.
  14. He has been a mixed bag IMO. Ownership thinks he is good.
  15. They don't have much swing and miss in the bullpen..has never been a thing with Harris. I have no idea why.
  16. Rogers is better pitcher than hitter...that's gone underreported. Still a good receiver.
  17. He will be gone as soon as Vest/Brieske/Seabold(?) are back.
  18. That's not happening. Harris and Hinch are here for a long time.
  19. per @OPSenheimer: Between extra innings and now the run scoring today, they're up to 34.1% and 7th highest percent of inherited runners to score.
  20. Horrendous stuff...I'll comfort myself that they have 110 games left.
  21. The Tigers offensive roster is a series of unmade decisions..offer Gleyber arb because it's convenient, roll Tork out there just hoping and praying he will get better based on inertia. Sticking to the platoon system with guys can't replicate outlier seasons. That's why it looks so hapless sometimes. Greene, Dingler, and McGonigle will be around after the lockout ends. I can't say who they should commit to beyond that. We can't do anything about the pitching..there is just natural attrition and guys get hurt. We will get some injured guys back and others will get hurt.
  22. Gage Workman is being called up...Carpy to the DL(likely) and they have to make room on the 40 man.
