  1. Due to an absolutely asinine league rule.
  2. Yep. If they win this game, it's merely lipstick on a pig. MAJOR problems still persist.
  3. This is like LOS, SOL in reverse. ALL the luck on the Lions side.
  4. 5 out of 6 games where they've looked like garbage for the most part. The book is out on them now and they've been exposed as a result. Also, Ben Johnson has called a garbage game today. Not running enough when they were up 21-0, no misdirections, a pitch to Montgomery on another possession that stood out as WTF. Just a bad team right now.
  5. Just popping in to say that this team is a fraud.
  6. It's not an athleticism issue with Cade. Look at a lot of top players. Luka, Tatum, SGA, Booker, Banchero to use a Cade peer example and perhaps the most underrated player in the league in Brunson. The problem with Cade outside of the fact that he's not a true point guard and is getting deployed as one is the lack of spacing so he gets crowded a lot. Just watch last night when the Knicks were blitzing him in the 4th and he had to work his way around it. There's not one player in the starting lineup that is part of a defensive gameplan for the opponent so the onus is completely on Cade to create offense. There is some self improvement needed in his game but I don't think it's the lack of athleticism holding him back because he's crafty enough to get to his spots. It's the deployment and the supporting cast. There's only a select few players that can carry the entire weight of a franchise. Cade is just not on that level, he's not a Luka, he's not a Lebron that can carry a weak supporting cast. Look at the supporting cast of the guys above... Tatum has Brown, Holiday, White, Smart previously. SGA has/had Dort, Giddey, Williams, Chet now. Booker had CP3, Bridges etc. Banchero has Wagner (another supremely underrated player), Anthony, Suggs is coming into his own. Brunson has Randle, Barrett, Quickley Cade has Killian Hayes, the Isiah Plugs, rookie Ausar who can't hit the broad side of a barn with his shot and Duren who brings no creation to the table. Enough said really. It's hard to properly evaluate Cade until he has at least a few NBA level starters around him. Even 1 would be nice, he has zero currently.
  7. People who blame Cade for any of this need to watch the 4th quarter on repeat. At least 4-5 passes to wide open 3 point shooters namely those two plugs Livers and Stewart and it was brick after brick. Get Cade some freaking help already. It's ridiculous how poor his supporting cast is. That leads me to my next point. He seems like a nice guy but what he in the hedoublehockeysticks do people see in Livers? I see some fans saying "Lets wait until Livers gets back in the lineup", coaches also seem to love this guy. He hustles but I don't see anything he does at an above average NBA level. He used to be able to shoot 3's but he can't even do that with any consistency anymore. Players like him, Stewart, Hayes despite his good offensive game last night (he was a horror show defensively) have no place in an NBA starting lineup. Even Duren is barely passable as a starter. What a mess.
  8. Another guard? Oh goody. The depression of this season just gets deeper all the time.
  9. Remember when he took Hayes over Hailburton then traded a 1st that still hasn't conveyed and is restricting them from making a significant trade for Stewart and also traded Kennard a bunch of stuff to draft Bey only to trade him a few years later for James Bustman who Weaver was allegedly trying to trade up for in that same draft? Incompetence isn't even the word.
  10. They do but they need to do something in season. They can't let the ship continue to sink like this because they run the risk of ruining these young players for good. It can be argued that they are already ruined but what we're seeing this season is absolute rock bottom and, yes, I do think that Monty is at least partially responsible for that. Firing Weaver right now will do nothing or Tellum or whichever suit but changing the coach can. I don't know what else can be done outside of letting it ride and letting them firgure it out for themselves but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
  11. Campbell is athletic but he's not explosive or a fluid mover, his movements are stiff. I'm sure he'll be a solid player but I don't see him as a dynamic playmaker or as somebody that will really impact the defense. I think you need more than "solid" at 18. I'm sure they liked the athletic profile but Campbell is the prototypical Dan Campbell guy so I think they saw him as the best culture fit of the available players. He was a reach pick.
  12. I didn't watch this travesty, just checked the score, but I think Monty needs to go. Lets be honest, he was never Weaver's #1 choice, he never wanted to be here and I see zero chemistry between he and the players. We all know that this team is too young and just not good enough but there's no way in hell that it should be THIS bad. I predict that Monty will resign before long or be shown the door. I know the contract is huge but I'm sure they can negotiate a buyout to satisfy both parties because, holy hell, this just ain't working.
  13. Jack Campbell is the epitome of this. Not that he can't be a good player down the line but he's the definition of the "try hard" "character" guy, a guy they fell in love with because of the work ethic and leadership but, realistically, they needed more of an impact player with the 18th pick. Commish, Jacobs, both Harris's, Walker. These are all try hard guys that lack in talent. They'll smack you in the mouth but they just can't keep up against dynamic players. I'd even lump Anzalone in there as well, Barnes, Rodrigo, Paschal. You can definitely have 3-4 guys like this on your defense but when like 80% of your defense is made up of guys like this, you're going to struggle against more dynamic offenses. They desperately need Houston (not as in the SAM position FFS) and Gardner-Johnson back badly, those two bring a dynamic that nobody on this defense outside of Branch perhaps brings. This defense would have been a lot better in the old era but you need playmakers in the NFL nowadays.
  14. The Lions staff loves "try hard" guys even if the talent is lacking, the defense is full of these guys. Even Hutch on some level is mostly a try hard, high motor guy. The Lions needs more talent, playmakers, more Gardner-Johnson, Branch types. More speed because they get killed in space on the regular. It's why they're so good against the run, in the trenches, and so bad against the pass and against running QBs that can stretch the defense wide.
  15. Outside of the Baltimore game, I don't remember the last game they weren't favored. With the respect the Lions get with the spread and their weak schedule, the Lions have been favored almost every game. I think KC and Baltimore are the only two where they were an underdog, maybe at Green Bay early in the season?
  16. You're not exactly making me feel better haha.
  17. It's a nightmare. The Pistons are now paying for the winning they did in two extended Championship windows in the past. It's odd because I don't think they're that much less talented than the Magic or the Pacers but they are light years behind both. What is it about this culture that brings out the least in their players? Is it the depressing Detroit winters? Is it coaching? Is it the water? I know it's a team of mostly young guys but there isn't a lack of talent with the core. It's either continuous 4th quarter collapses or not competitive at all and it's getting worse all the time.
  18. What a pitiful franchise. I look at franchises like the Magic and Thunder that were down there with the Pistons just 2 years ago and see them as legit contenders now while the Pistons are even worse than 2 years ago and the Thunder and Magic are doing that without making any panicked win now moves by simply superior drafting and developing. This might be one of the worst teams of all time that we're watching and I didn't think it was possible for them to be worse than last year yet.... here we are. They are so used to losing that they don't know how to play any other way. This is the downside to doing a full scale rebuild and this rebuild looks cooked already. Rough The worst part of this is that this draft absolutely blows. Del or somebody, please tell me that there's somebody worthwhile to be excited about in this draft. Just humor me.
  19. Precisely. In an odd way, it's kind of encouraging that they beat the Raiders, Bears and were somewhat within striking distance of Green Bay (should have been closer if it wasn't for that idiotic fake punt call) considering that they heavily lost the turnover battle in each game. 10-2 in those 3 games. If the Lions are relatively even in turnovers even with a shaky defense, there's no reason they can't go 4-2 but that's a big IF considering what we've seen 3 of the last 4 weeks against teams they should have beaten, by more in the case of the Raiders and Bears. It's mostly on Goff. I believe 9 of those 10 turnovers came from him with the Reynolds return fumble against the Bears being the lone exception. Actually the Reynolds "fumble" against the Raiders too near the goal line so 8 in 3 games by Goff. That needs to be cut down on significantly.
  20. New Orleans is a **** team that has some key injuries, this would be a really bad loss and signal a collapse if the Lions don't win this one. Not saying "must win" but they need to get their game back on track and Goff in particular needs to take care of the ball, something he was so good at until the Ravens game and hasn't been the same since Chargers game notwithstanding.
  21. Because rushing 4 isn't working so why not try something different? You know when the Lions defense looked best this season? When they blitzed more frequently. The best way to protect a suspect secondary is by giving them less time to cover. You do run the risk of a bigger play happening but there's also a better chance to stop those intermediate plays that constantly kill the Lions and a better chance of forcing a mistake by the QB especially these mediocre ones they've been playing most of the season.
  22. Look at who you're trying to reason with. It's a fruitless exercise trying to help those who don't want to be helped. I'm pretty down on the team as well but saying there's "zero" chance they win in New Orleans against the .500 Saints is pure rubbish but TP does love those piping hot takes.
  23. I thought the Baltimore game was the wakeup call, or the Raiders game with all the errors, or the Bears game. We might need to come to the realization that this could very well be a .500 team disguised as 8-3, like the Vikings last year.
  24. Goff might be broken. I'm starting to feel stupid for wanting him to get signed to the big extension.
