  1. 7-2 headed into the 2 game home stretch with the Bears and Packers looks mighty tasty. It would be nice if a team, any team, learned how to play against the Vikings and knocked them down a peck.
  2. Also, Ben Johnson is a star. His playcalling in the redzone has been questionable at times this season but man does he call some masterful plays capped off with that throw back to Raymond on the final drive.
  3. I actually think that 4th down call was a no brainer. Put this game on the offense, not the defense.
  4. 7-2 baby, with home games against Chicago and Green Bay coming up. This is a Superbowl offense, everybody big time today. REALLY wish they had that pass rusher opposite of Hutch (maybe when Houston returns) but this offense and run defense can win the Lions a SB especially if they get home field.
  5. Gotta score another TD when they get the ball back at 38-38
  6. The defense is utterly useless, as expected. Either the Lions score a TD on every possession the rest of the game or it's over. Looking at this now, even more frustrating that Holmes did zip at the deadline to address the defense.
  7. Offense needs to keep scoring. This could be like the Seattle game last year, 48-45
  8. Getting lit up my Herbert. Like I said this week, they can't stop any halfway decent QB.
  9. Can't leave him 1 on 1 which they did on the TD. That could be fixed by scheme.
  10. Just have to keep scoring points because the Chargers offense is going to keep scoring.
  11. He had a lot of those numbers in the first 3 quarters. When he came in during the 4th and the ball was largely taken out of Sasser's hands, the team fell apart. It's not all on Cade but, again, he was loose with the ball and was making poor decisions overall. He's done this multiple times in the 4th quarter this season. Of course it's not all his fault as guys (Stewart namely) missed some wide open shots but he needs to be held accountable for making mistakes with the ball fairly frequently with the game on the line. With that said, he needs help. There's a lot of injuries and I think he feels the need to do too much which leads to these turnovers so there's probably a reason why he's pressing so much. Cade is going to be good eventually but he doesn't play efficient/winning basketball at this point in his career and I think it's something to be noted with him being the franchise player.
  12. Sure but then you look at the game logs and see that Geno Smith and Lamar Jackson had their best games of the season against the Lions defense. @MichiganCardinal It's a valid concern IMO.
  13. Even putting the Kelce injury aside, there was a ridiculous amount of dropped passes by Chiefs receivers all in key moments it seemed like so my point is that Mahomes passing numbers in that game is deceiving. For instance, if Toney makes that catch (and he was WIDE OPEN) on the final drive, the Chiefs are more than likely kicking a FG to win that game. My general point is that the Lions defense has played well against the bottom of the barrel QBs but have gotten shredded against the better ones so I think it's likely that Herbert has a big day against them especially if they let Keenan Allen go 1 on 1.
  14. Who did Milwaukee rest? Middleton is injured I believe and Giannis got himself kicked out of the game in the 3rd. Also, the Pistons have missed like 4-6 rotation players pretty much the entire season so it's hard to feel bad for other teams missing players.
  15. I loved the Sasser pick on draft day because he just has that microwave ability to get buckets, plus the intensity on the defensive end. I'm interested to see what his ceiling is because I think it's higher than some people might think. Cade continues to make poor decisions when teams ratchet up the pressure. This has always been an issue for him and was something I hope would get fixed with more experience but hasn't thus far. His statline looks good but he was poor in the clutch again. I suppose this can be looked at as a "good loss" but I look at it as a choke. They had the game in control and completely wilted once the Bucks put it into next gear, without Giannis and Middleton btw. At some point, they need to learn how to win a few of these and I see no progression in that respect which is concerning the longer this goes on because constant losing becomes contagious and is a really hard mentality to rid of when it happens too often.
  16. The Mahomes numbers are deceiving due to no Kelce and they dropped tons of passes. Geno had arguably his best game of the season against them. The Lions defense has played well against Ridder, Young, Love, Mayfield and Jimmy G so we really don't know if they're good or not. Herbert struggled on the road against a much better defense in a stadium that's notoriously tough on QBs so I don't think that indicates that he'll struggle this week. I think he'll have a big day against the Lions defense in an inside stadium especially if Glenn predominantly rushes 4 but I also expect the Lions to move the ball well against the Chargers defense.
  17. WTF are you talking about? They dominated the Raiders and they also outplayed the Bucs pretty soundly as well and they likely lose the division if they lose this game? Man TP, go out and get some fresh air my friend.
  18. Herbert is going to shred the Lions defense, they've struggled against every good QB this season and I expect that to continue. I also expect the Lions to score a lot so it'll be a shootout in all likelihood.
  19. He played the entire 4th quarter and almost 40 minutes the entire game after playing almost 40 minutes the night before. Not to mention that their offense is almost entirely dependent on him so, yes, I do believe that fatigue was a factor in the 4th.
  20. This is about as good as one can expect from a team literally full of young guys against a healthy Warriors team. I know people want to ship off the vets but you can't have a team full of young guys and expect to win many NBA games. Not to make excuses for Cade but he's playing too many minutes out of necessity and it's really starting to wear him down.
  21. A little actually. The Ravens are extremely tough to beat in that stadium when Lamar is on.
  22. The Lions had two giveaways and still took the game to OT, not to mention the poorly timed 4th down call by Campbell in his own territory and Montgomery going down when the Lions were leading in the 3rd. The Lions practically gifted that game to Seattle and still had a shot to win it on the final drive. I think they're probably the better team and would win 6 or 7 out of 10 against them.
  23. This season is already a disaster, they aren't even competitive against teams with depleted lineups. Look at their next 4 games, that's an automatic 2-9. I expected them to be bad this season but I at least expect competitive games especially at home. They're going down a very bad road if they have another season like last season. We need to see some progress this season.
  24. As if being one of the most inefficient players in the NBA his first 3 seasons wasn't enough and somehow he's become even more inefficient this season which should be no surprise since he's playing against starters now. What's Monty thinking? This shouldn't even be an experiment, it's not like he's THAT good defensively like Ausar for instance.
  25. Yeah, there's a fine line between enjoying the moment (and god knows that us long time Lions fans have earned it) and raising the bar as well. I think there's a lot of merit to what you're saying about taking the time to enjoy this but there's also merit to what Tater is saying by raising expectations and expecting more when needed. The window is just opening BUT in the salary cap NFL where there is so much roster turnover from year to year, you just don't know when you'll have a real opportunity again like the Lions currently have. 6-2 in an awful division with one of the easiest schedules in the NFL in the last 9 so I kind of feel like Holmes missed an opportunity to fill vital areas of need with, again, a good amount of draft capital to work with (4 picks in the first 3 rounds) and some cap flexibility to add a significant player. Not only are they missing a guy opposite of Hutch especially with Houston hobbled even when he returns probably but they are hooped if Hutch goes down. Also, Will Harris is their next guy in line if Sutton or Jacobs goes down which we saw against Baltimore what occurs when that happens so Holmes standing pat makes the path to a SB that much harder especially when all the competitors added a significant player. There's also the matter of their young guys about to become much more expensive especially after next season as well as Goff so there's a small window here under Goff's current contract and the core guys on their rookie contract to take advantage of, basically a 2 year window before Sewell, St. Brown and Goff are all due for monster raises. The team is good, even very good perhaps, but I don't see this as a Superbowl contender as is with weak pass rush from the Front 4 against good teams and paper thin corner depth. When you're 6-2 headed into a manageable schedule, SB should become the bar I'd think so I think Holmes misread the room in this case by sticking with the patient approach.
