  1. Tim Corcoran...that man cast a long shadow
  2. The starter is 28 and has taken a team to the Super Bowl...so yeah, draft a guy to hold a clipboard and become the back up. With so many holes on defense to fill, it would be silly to draft a QB that high
  3. The Lions are in more of a draft a guy to groom him (3rd day) than find a franchise QB (1st rd) mode.
  4. Another factor in all this is the pirate sites like sports surge who allow people to view premium content for free
  5. I wonder if he wouldn't have been better served playing on the wing from day one. The prospect of a big physical C with a bit of a scoring touch is tempting, but he really looks good on the wing
  6. Article from Bultman on the Athletic about a deal for Horvat...to summarize...IIRC..adding him would be tricky with Larkin not signed. The ask would likely be Kasper +, (which I wouldn't do as we are not in "win now" mode) or as an alternative, Hronek, Veleno or Ras +...I would not be adverse to a package with Hronek as the centerpiece and Veleno as an add on. I am not trading Ras
  7. Wilt leas the league in total assists in 67-68. My appreciation for Walton's passing abilities is largely observational...that and I'm admittedly biased because those 76-77 and 77-78 Blazer teams are amongst my favorite teams of all time
  8. I dated a girl who drove a VW Golf in the late 80's. It was a nice reliable car...she was also nice and reliable and built like Jessica Rabbit....VW also made the Rabbit
  9. Bill Walton was a hell of a passer in his Portland years and Wilt lead the league in assists one season....but they were b4 cable so I guess they don't count
  10. After the mortgage crisis stabilized you had a lot of "Good Bank/Bad Bank" scenarios...one got to keep a cleaner balance sheet for business moving forward, the other ate the 15lbs of poo on the original bank's books
  11. I imagine it's progressively harder to fix mechanical flaws and mental approaches as time wears on. Then you're left with a 22 year-old or older who has to be retaught. Most teams probably want to focus on younger talent at that point
  12. Is it the mix or the mixers? Did Al have an eye for talent...but not an eye for people who can develop it?
  13. Miggy is working with the kids as his career comes to a close
  14. Meier would be a nice addition
  15. Kuiper's first mock has us taking DE Wilson and CB Gonzalez in rd 1. I would be happy with that
  16. Hutch, Sauce and Woolen are your defensive ROY finalists...Ben Johnson a finalist for assistant of the year. DC not in the mix for Coach of the year
  17. sign Horvat without a deal in place for Larkin?
  18. I probably put more value on him than most...I think he's ideally suited to to play the wing, and he's just about the only...right now..physical forward with some skill on the roster. I would really hate to use that for what could be a rental
  19. Miggy's in the 10th best shape of his life...
  20. Yeah...but I don't think I want to part with Rasmussen because he has a unique skill set. Suter or Veleno probably won't cut it unless you add a lot..which I'm not certain I want to do with a UDFA
  21. They want a young C as part of the return...you'd have to think they'd ask for Kasper +
  22. Get a cat to kill the rat...get a dog to kill the cat...get a wolf to kill the dog...where does it end?
  23. Popular acclaim lead to ABBA selling more records than the Ramones. That's the value I place on popular acclaim. But I digress...you need a dominant edge and a shutdown corner. We have the edge and we have a chance to get the other this year. I 'm giddy
  24. I think Houston coming off the practice squad to average over a sack a game shows Hutch created a lot of opportunities. Cominsky had 1.5 sacks in 27 games in Atlanta and 4 in 14 with Detroit...sounds like he benefited from p!aging with Hutch
  25. I think you have the DL thing a bit backwards...if the DL is good enough he forces a lot double teams which frees up other pass rushers (cf. Houston, James). If he's really good..he just beats the double team. Hutch is really good
