  1. Oh wait...that Islanders pick is conditional. Still...if it rolls to next year, it would be the Canucks pick...right? That would give us three 1st round picks...
  2. Stroud would be my 1st QB off the board. I could live with the Lions using #18 for Hooker...or using some of the later picks to get back into the 20's if he's there.
  3. We need the Pens and Caps to win and the Islanders to lose...along with us...to maximize those draft odds. Be hilarious if the Islanders finished 16th and jumped to 6th and we finished 8th and jumped to #1. That would be enough lotto luck to last a lifetime
  4. The five million it freed up is probably more useful than the 5th round pick.
  5. As Cossa grows into his frame...if he retains his athleticism and keeps his mechanics tight...he's going to be a very good NHL goalie
  6. Nevin optioned to Toledo
  7. But he drafted Tork, Greene and Jung with high first round picks. Granted...he also drafted Jobe, Manning Faedo and Mize...but pretty much all of his higher profile International signees were position players. Early on he had a bias towards pitching at the top...but three of his last four top draft picks were position players. The issue is the raw materials they've had were wasted
  8. Because he has a fractured kneecap that he played most of the game with
  9. Kasper will not play again this year
  10. That swing Tork put on that 99MPH FB looked different than last year...a tad shorter maybe?
  11. It's stuck in my head that one year Wayne Fontes ran his mouth a bit and tipped off the Lions draft preference...but the specifics elude me. There were warning flags about both Charles and Reggie Rogers that the Lions ignored. ..or they were convinced these issues weren't that big of a deal. Ultimately...I think it's easier to judge character these days because there's typically a history on social media you can look at and teams are spending more resources on mental/psychological evaluations than they did before. Soo...if they do draft Carter at six...good luck, because that's likely to be the most scrutinized choice in a long while
  12. Having Rhymes at 2nd instead of Polanco cost us a pennant
  13. Kasper has been summoned to Detroit!!
  14. There was a time when legal trouble made someone MORE likely to be drafted by the Raiders
  15. It's a 45% difference....could be that Zadina matured early...that's part of why it's so hard to project the future with 18 year-olds. Every draft has its busts. I agree that Zadina has disappointed and seems to be a bust, but I tend to think his issues may be as much mental as anything else. Quinn Hughes or Evan Bouchard were guys that were talked about pre draft for the Wings. Had Zadina not fallen past the Habs, maybe we would have picked on e of them. Bouchard would be nice right now since he's bigger and a RHD..but Hughes is PPG guy who would def boost the PP
  16. Not suggesting Zadina is as good a sniper as proven NHL goal scorers...suggesting his results might improve if he altered his mental approach
  17. What else? observations by scouts? Everyone had him ranked highly. He wasn't drafted on stats...I'm citing the stats to show you were distorting his record by saying his only success was in a single tournament. Yes...the Q isn't known as a defensive league, (BTW...Veleno got 42 in his post draft year, Zadina scored 44 in his draft year Zadina scored 45% more goals in GR than Veleno...that is not "similar") Zadina's 44 tied him for third in the league in his season there...so I don't see the relevance in citing this year's stats. His lackluster results are born out of his inability to bury his shots. I t has been suggested by people close to the team that he presses. Perhaps he'd see better results if he calms down
  18. One tournament? He put in 44 goals in the Q in his draft year and he netted 16 in 59 games with the Griffs as a 19 year-old. He has had some success beyond the world Jr's
  19. It's hard to get high end players past the second round...they can take awhile to develop and Stevie ha sonly been in control for four drafts. Wallinder and Mazur look like they might turn into NHL regulars....so there's hope there. Zadina is out for the year...there was talk that he came back early from his broken ankle. Have to wonder if it was too early. My perception of him is that he presses...gets the yips and blows shots way wide or high. He put a lot of pressure on himself on draft night...I wonder if the injury return and issues he has with burying shots are an extension of that. Dude needs to calm down. Maybe spark one and chill...
  20. I think we win 75 games this year....
  21. Question 1...would you rather fight 1,000 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck
  22. Mazur has been signed to a contract beginning in 23/24. He will report to the Griffs on a pro tryout
  23. On a guy with the talent of Carter...you have to do your due diligence. He could be Nick Fairley or even Reggie Rogers...or he could be Warren Sapp
