It's also worth noting that Chris was one of the holdouts in the labor negotiations last year. I'm not trying to be argumentative about it but the players would get their checks signed by any of the other owners too. It's not like he's giving them the privilege of playing for the Tigers. There's no need to rock the boat in ST so just tout the company line. I'm making fun of the media more than anything. Chris is doing what he's supposed to be doing and the players are doing what they are supposed to be doing and the writer gives the impression it's the greatest thing ever.

I think the players are just happy to talk about something else besides the day to day monotony and cliches that come with early spring training. So they expound a bit and talk up the boss. It's easy to say the right things. It costs nothing. The plane situation is probably something they really like if it is indeed an upgrade. But as a fan it means nothing to me.

There needs to be an investigation into his sweetheart deal arranged by the former labor secretary with help from Ken Starr, and I think Bill Barr too. This happened late in the Bush admin.

I mean.... I could see ****ty ameneties mattering in terms of being a deal breaker in an all things being equal situation but I think "all things being equal" rarely occurs. To me this is bare minimum for what they should be doing. It's nice they are doing upgrades at Comerica but for the prices we pay to get in it is expected to have monitors that work and a sound system that's standard in the industry. You don't get extra credit for doing the baseline. In my seats very often I can't hear the PA. But I am also cynical that the upgrades to the scoreboard and PA system isn't about fan experience but about flexibility in advertising. The board itself is indeed larger but the extra space is taking solid ad space so you can bet that it is all about being able to make them digital so instead of National Coney Island being the only one up there in a certain spot now they can change it up and get more money.

They want to go after birth control next. Then no fault divorce. A bible verse should never be the basis for a judicial or legislative decsion.

"yeah the money is nice obviously but what really sold me to come to Detroit was the shower heads.... have you seen those?" I'm sorry... that's ****ing hilarious. Did Evan get a lifetime supply of free pizza or sponsorships for his podcast to write this? It reads like someting you'd find on an corporation's intranet for employees.

Yes, that too. Last year, for the most part, I limited myself on spending at the ballpark for food and beer for this reason. They're not getting my money automatically like before. I still have my tickets but rather than getting a beer as soon as I walk in, I wait until the 3rd or 4th. I take in a bottle of water and fill it back up from their fountains. I'm surprised they still have those, even the water bottle filling stations. One thing going cashless has done is showed me how much I was spending once I was there. Before I would just take whatever cash I had and didn't really pay attention. But the next day when I see the itemized figures.... and a tip, pun intended, for those who do buy concessions at Comerica. When it asks you if you want to tip... don't. I was told by many of the staff there that they don't directly get that. It's split up among all the workers later on. So the nice lady that helped you isn't getting that $2 directly. It says something when multiple staff members advise you not to tip!

The people that rip Chris for "not spending" think there's a GM store where you just go in and pick out your groceries. My complaints with him relate more to his overall business sense and the constant requests by his empire for public money. They've spent decades getting public money and empty promises. They are shady people. As an aside.... do other MLB ballparks have every door labled with a sponsor? I notice it starting with LCA where you can't take a piss without talking thru the Blue Cross Blue Shield restroom and you flush the UWM handle and get a paper towel to dry your hands from the Google dispenser box. Maybe it's like that everywhere. It doesn't hurt me or cause harm... just looks tacky.

The Karmano Krazies could stay home and offset any Muslim vote issues.

The Lebanese in particular have carved a good chunk of Wayne county political power thru the Warren Evans machine over the last 40 years. Which is a conundrum for my mayor and his No Biden in the primary position. Hammoud is part of that party machine as he served multiple terms in the state house and is entrenched in the party. If his stance carries over to the election in November then he needs to sit out future photo ops did programs based on funding from Democratic Party achievements.

But this isn’t the first week of throwing by him. I’m confident he is sticking to an exertion plan set out for him by his coaches.

I had heard that too.

Glad for Tarik but I'm not sure that's the kind of thing a reporter should be added to the end of their tweet. He often crosses the line to fanboy rather than journalist.

Are the folks in Sterling Heights mostly Chaldean? To quote some around me.... "they don't count as Arab".

We will get an indication of this after the primary votes are tallied. Will those Uncommitted votes remain non votes in November or even be converted to Trump? In 2020 the city totals were 30K to 13K in favor of Biden. In 2022 it was 19K to 10K in favor of Whitmer.

I didn't read it but it ties into this theme I see among that crowd that basically treats young women like crap, moreso than before. Us tough men are not doing a good enough job with our women and boys by letting them turn into a bunch of softies. There's a movement in the Christian Nationalist lot that thinks its a good idea to revert to something like 1 vote per household. We can't let women and these Swifties change our country.

There is a merging point among Muslims with the GOP as it stands to moral issues. The immigration thing (Muslim ban) is not that big of a player because there is a tribal feeling of "I'm here, it's all good". Tribalism is a thing in that community, Lebanese vs Yemeni, etc. We had a big row here last year in our schools where some local Trumpies were jumping in on the book banning issue and the Muslims were joining them. One person at a board meeting actually said "They can be gay when they are 18". It is not an election year here for the board until next year so we'll see how that plays out. But I'm not ruling out them voting for Trump. This is based on what I read locally.

That kind of thing is tougher to take today given so many options to watch. You probably sacrificed 3 hours total and were let down. You could have watched half a season of a good series in that time. That’s why I hate all the marvel bashing by the likes of Scorsese. It’s fine to not like those kind of movies but you can’t deny they propped up the physical theater industry for the previous 7 or 8 years. We have the Barbenheimmer/Flowers Moon/Swift revival now and hopefully it stays. But th days of just randomly going to the movies to watch whatever are nearly done. It has to be an even movie.

What is the mechanism to get the money? When he doesn’t write a check what happens? I’m not smart enough to understand accounting rules to rule out the ability of lawyers and such to hide money under other entities. I’m not being argumentative or rhetorical. Maybe Elon will pay it.

I read that sentiment in a lot of local comments on social media. Yes it’s just internet chatter but like MAGA… they believe it. And that’s just what they are willing to say publicly. Yes the WSJ op Ed a few weeks ago on Dearborn crossed the line but if that author did his research online reading comment sections of a few local and prominent pages he would be forgiven for going towards that conclusion. Muslims shaming other Muslims for being “harem” because not every facet of their life is devoted to Islam and Alllah. It’s like me reading commentary from my old fundamentalist baptist (Bob Jones University) crowd go on about other Christians being “worldly”.

But they are taught and believe that what they would have is not good enough. That what the guy next door (Israel) has is theirs by birthright and heritage and it was stolen. So the Gazans will never stop. You can’t negotiate with a people who think you simply shouldn’t exist. To far too many people the only acceptable resolution will be wiping Israel off the map. It will always be there. There is nothing you could give the Palestinians short of no israel that will satisfy them.

I’m of the belief he will pay nothing in any of this.
