  1. I loved Chris Hayes' summation of how starting with the rally hook, Harris would answer each question with her talking point then cast the line in Trump's direction with a pretty fly on it and watch him rise to the bait - rallies, McCann, the 2020 election. She did it over and over. And even better, she flat out won the Alpha dog contest. Can't say I was surprised but I was still impressed but the way she looked at him repeatedly and went straight at him, calling him a disgrace, unfit. She trampled his manhood over and over and he couldn't even look at her. Actually maybe too much for some bros to bear, but it was still great to see her stomp him in exactly the way his GOP brethren who hate him but are too scared of him to do. She is nothing if not fearless.
  2. Brit Hume sounds drunk
  3. Coming close almost always make a team mentally tougher the next year assuming there isn't big turnover, and the heart of this team is going to stay together.
  4. well, not to be totally pessimistic, we'll see if the polls move any after this. In 2016 Hillary got a big bounce of the 1st debate but it evaporated by the election - at least in part because she was not as good in the later debates but lots of other reasons as well. If there had been only one would it have been better for her? Who knows?
  5. no - it's never really been about that. Have to win this by addition, not subtraction.
  6. twins blow it open with 4 more runs - lead by 6 in the 7th, Won't gain any ground tonight.
  7. I've read scouting summaries from before Sweeney was drafted that said can't miss bat, won't stay at short. Goes to show you have to let things play out. He looks fine with the glove even if his throwing motion is sort of unconventional, but he never put up big offensive numbers in the upper minors. Not bad, but not exciting. If he's a decent glove I suppose you can live with a 675 OPS, so we'll see.
  8. I would guess the theory is it pisses people off when you tell them they are better off but they don't agree and there are a lot of people who have persuaded themselves they are suffering even if they are not. I read Krugman's columns in the NYT and all year as he has been providing figures about inflation falling the comments in response have been absolutely acidic - people don't believe him even as he has provided the numbers. So it's a case where you don't need to argue to those who believe you, you have to pacify those that don't.
  9. Have to admit I was waiting for a ball to go to CF and Kreidler to misplay it.....😱
  10. My bad - I guess I misread that!
  11. Things are coming up aces for the Tigers wrt position players right now. Meadows, Greene, Keith looking like solid 10yr pros, Vierling and Carpenter solid. Jung with a fine OBS so far and Sweeney at least forcing a longer look. McKinstry and Ibanez looking like perfect utility guys. What a reversal from the 1st half of the season. Ibanez will be a FA though - might be looking for more playing time somewhere else.
  12. Angels come back a bit with 4 in the 5th. Still down 2.
  13. Parker has a 896 OPS in his last 30 games.
  14. Complete game shutout under 100 pitchers. What is this, 1955?
  15. Looks like it.
  16. Montero faces the minimum thru 8. Rockies aren't very good, but that's still a pretty nice performance. He's solidifying a spot in next year's rotation.
  17. Send Montero out for the 8th? He'd match Skubal in his rookie season....
  18. I love watching Vierling hit. He's not the best hitter on the team but he's the most technically adept at changing his approach pitcher to pitcher.
  19. That was a some pretty terrible outfielding on Vierlings hit.
  20. tried to throw the same pitch to Parker too many times in a row.
  21. are we trying out another attempt to replace Shannon Hogan tonight?
  22. I don't know if I believe it but some polling I saw recently identified about 10% of Trump's support as "grudging" supporters. These are folks that don't like Trump but say he is their default choice because they don't know anything about Harris. So if they exist, those would be the people at play.
  23. Missouri Supreme Court rules that abortion initiative stays on the ballot for November election. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/09/10/missouri-abortion-amendment-november-ballot-court/
  24. Willi's OPS peaked at 820 on June 27. Since then 249 PA at 587.
  25. because he hasn't done enough with the bat *yet* to look like a regular. Sure he may, but the proper presumption for any garden variety MiLB player called to the majors is failure until they prove otherwise.
