  1. but still leaves them with a roster problem. Going back to the suggestion that lunched this sub-topic, if they let Margot go it could only be because they were willing to have Torkelson or Torres play some outfield. I'm not seeing that, but who knows what Hinch might throw out there?
  2. No, I think if anything it's more about young players. They have been willing to move vets, but I think they think they can develop more out of any young player than their current trade value so they just don't like to move young players, and in this case all four players in the mix are young players still probably on the upside.
  3. When Torkelson started hitting in ST this became a dilemma they were going to have to face. Gleyber's trip to the DL just put it off a bit. But Malloy, Torkelson, Keith and Torres are one too many guys for the same positions. A trade would be the natural solution, but trades don't seem to be this FO's favorite pastime - and who to where?
  4. there are days you don't even care if Baez can hit.
  5. Yeah - Margot's ticket gets punched when Vierling comes back.
  6. that is a stupid explanation - or an explanation of a stupid rule.
  7. Javy and Nate Thomlinson out there agreeing that NY is nuts.
  8. IDK, before the last few days I would have thought Ibanez was on the thinnest ice but he's looking better with bat and has been solid at 3B. You can't send out Kreidler unless Vierling is so close that Riley wouldn't have to play many more games in CF.
  9. Malloy comes through. Was definitely doubting him today.
  10. I just meant that educational attainment cross-correlates with income so the two effects are not trivial to separate in social survey work so if you want to prove it's anti-intellectualism vs income you have your work cut out.
  11. Casey Mize's career: better late than never - way better in fact.
  12. If there is reasonable correlation between educational attainment and obesity that would go toward your case. The confounding factor would be that in the US, cheap food tends to be unhealty food and you get a cross correlation with income.
  13. Did not have Ibanez high on my card after his slow start.
  14. Umpire not making either side happy.
  15. the infamous 6 miss walk
  16. Have I mentioned how thoroughly unimpressed I am with Margot? I understand beggars can't be choosers when injuries leave you desperate, but I hope is is gone soon. Jake certainly saved his rear there.
  17. Moreno's Angels are a lot like WCF's Lions. Give the fans a really big star or two and everything else should take of itself.
  18. True - but there is another way of looking at it, which is that if I'm good at what I do and bust my ass always being the best I can be, why do I want to keep serving the profits of an incompetent FO/ownership that can't or won't perform at the level I hold myself to? That may be just a little Ayn Rand-ish, but even as an everyday working stiff I've been in jobs where I resented the incompetence of the people I was working for. I can only imagine how much worse it could have been if I was as dedicated to my performance level as a pro athlete has to be.
  19. I could be wrong, but I'd estimate the two things killing Americans at XS rates in recent years have the opioid epidemic, and the fact that Americans are epidemically obese. Not sure why it's so much worse here than in other developed countries, but we are a stunningly overweight nation, and right down to the elementary schools now.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised. Seider is at his best when he is skating hard all over the ice. I always thought Lalonde played him too many minutes to keep him fresh. I'm not sure but from the boxes I've looked at since McClellan took over I think he has cut Mo's TOI some, but he is still always the highest on the team. The thing with Seider is that you sort of have to make up your mind what you want him to do. Since he's big and strong you can have him be that physical presence but if he plays that game hard it's going to take a lot out of him being able to the play the skill side puck possession game he is also capable of. OR TL/DR, the wings need to be a tougher, stronger team across the board so Mo doesn't have to be the only guy on that end of things.
  21. So we have them right where we want them - ripe for regression!
  22. Need to respect the wind today. Walk Judge and pitch the left handers inside.
  23. No crash but no bounce either. Market down 1.5-2.5%. Bitcoin and Tesla under pressure. Someone(s) trying really hard to support Tesla at 230.
