  1. I didn't get to see the game but looking at the stats and reporting M fans have to feel better about their chances. Assuming McNamara doesn't lose his starting gig next week, MSU will be a good game to have a QB with a very low interception rate....
  2. the three young starters will work additional innings about equal to one additional starter. Added to Tork and Greene that will be the equivalent of three new players. Add 3 FA distributed at SP, SS, C and it makes a turnover of 6 players out of the core of 14 (5 starters plus 9 hitters). That enough turn over to create a lot of possible improvement (or disappointment!). Alexander probably also adds to the rotation but I'd guess he'll be a wash performance wise with Boyd or Peralta or whoever you want to consider him as replacing. And that doesn't include the BP, which is a bigger piece of the puzzle every year. But like any BP from year to year it may go either way. Possible downsides are Cisnero and Funk turn back into the walk machines they have been in the past; another Fulmer injury. Possible upsides: Lange, Roni Garcia, Faedo, Wentz, Madden, Jimenez finds some command, etc....
  3. pretty much. There have been over 1 million confirmed cases in the state to date, which means probably 2 million including asymptomatic infections, and 5.5 million vaccinated. So say the remaining target population is about 2 million. Vaccinations are running about 500K/month and infections are running at 100K/month. So the 'naked' target population is currently falling by >25% per month.
  4. One way of the other I think this is Harbaugh's last coaching stop. I could see them easing him into a long mentorship of a rising young coach like Hart at the end of which the program was all in the hands of the younger man other than the title at which point Jim rides off into the sunset. Maybe we are seeing the beginning of that now.
  5. meh - they can find kids that can cut it. It's all a matter of the investment they are willing to make to find them. But don't expect any big institutional changes - we now have a lame duck President.
  6. until just then. Chris Taylor can't decided to change his mind about taking 3rd when he's half-way there. TOOTBLAN!
  7. Yeah - Gary is probably the measure of how bad the coaching at M must have been. Obviously he has the physical tools and obviously he was highly thought of as a prep. If he's getting better under better coaching in the NFL what does that tell you about player development at UM? It would appear the most charitable reading you can make for Harbaugh is that he fell asleep on his staff and either he woke up or maybe Manuel had to kick him in the butt to make the staff changes that seem to have at last breathed a little life into the program.
  8. gagner is pretty bad. Resolution for the season from Yzerman to Blashill must have been: "Make this team harder to play against."
  9. So MSU didn't get across mid-field until the 3rd quarter? That should give Tucker a lot for his team to work on over the by week.
  10. yeah - he and Gary both were more weight room hype than substance on the field. It's not UM's fault if NFL teams fell for it.... But then again, how can you blame players for not progressing playing in a Don Brown defense? Like some some of his players he was more hype than substance as well.
  11. Seider might already be the Wings best player. Vancouver with 13 new players. You wouldn't know it.
  12. Vancouver with some strange strategy - Wings with an empty netter 3-1.
  13. Seider takes the cheap shot, comes right back out and rides his man down from in front of the net when his goalie is down.
  14. Yzerman with all that sandbagging over the summer.."We'll have to wait and see if Moritz is ready to play in the NHL.....". Riiiight.
  15. That's all Trump was doing when he first started running. It was one big donor funded junket - then he won.
  16. Seider makes a great pass up ice to Ganger, Gagner just gives the puck back on a dump with no RedWing even in the area code. Dumb But the Wings draw first blood on a redirect.....
  17. Granted this is true, as far as it goes. But any decent NFL team will also burn you if they correctly anticipate the extra man coming on the rush, and those plays often often go for 6. It's not quite as simple as just sending more guys because you can't get pressure with 4. In the end there is only so much you can scheme to cover for poor personnel.
  18. I wish. The only pitching we'd be likely to get for either Castro would be an upgraded Iron Mike.
  19. I'm getting tagged "new owner doesn't love you."
  20. LOL - yes - we had this discussion with you at the time and you did relax the edit time after some of us moaned and groaned about it. No biggy - being forced to proof read closer is not a bad thing, but I agree with Chasfh, MacOS is terrible about changing words after you've typed them and seen them as what you meant - to where you don't think you need to review. Preferences/keyboard/ uncheck "Correct spelling automatically" and probably also "Capitalize words automatically" !!! (and of course I found a typo in this to correct.....)
  21. It's a higher standard. It's not just about unlikeliness of major illness, it's because students who turn positive still have to quarantine and that puts them out of the classroom and that is enough to create unacceptable dislocation.
  22. This is sort of the funny part - there is whole industry out there that lives by fleecing the pols the fleece the rest of us. Like the mites on the fleas on the dog.
  23. Nafta was only one piece, it was the abdication of skilled production to the orient that killed the middle class, which was populated not by manual laborers but by skilled ones.
