  1. So you are saying we hired another FO that can't evaluate talent?
  2. They probably wouldn't have moved Stafford before the 2020 season anyway because of the killer cap hit. But they could have moved him in 2021 without having to play Goff.
  3. Maybe they knew what he was and they took him anyway to get the deal with the picks. A football team with no talent doesn't have a lot of good options.
  4. correct. If she had been doing what she needed to be doing to get up to speed to be an NFL owner while mom was grooming her to take over I would have expected QuinTricia to be gone long before mom handed over the keys to the executive washroom. She wasn't a new hire off the street.
  5. I'll put it this way - If my name was going to be official on the papers 5 weeks after the draft, I'd damn well want the input into what was going to happen in that draft. So to me - official or not, it marks Sheila as probably not up to the job. That is based on the fact that most often, the paper work takes weeks - possibly months - to be complete after conditions on the ground have changed. Your YMMV may vary on that view.
  6. I think they'll find a way to cover SS, even if it's only a trade for a promotion ready AAA player. I'm more worried about catcher. Unless they get some miracle development from Dingler that gets him here mid-season, the cupboard is really bare - both in our system and the FA market. I think Eric Haase is a great story - I don't think he can be the anchor at catcher for a winning team. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong. My worry is that he's going to get the chance to....
  7. you think Martha was still doing much at that point? SFH was already pretty much leading mom around by then wasn't she? You suppose she walked in cold the day the papers were signed? It's possible. Mike Ilitch was making bad decisions right till the end......
  8. I go back to the decision not to fire Quinn and Patricia before the 2020 draft. Any hope I had for the 'next generation' of Ford ownership pretty much dissolved then.
  9. I can't think of one that's been worse. There have been other teams with shorter periods of mismanagement and failure but the Lion's record does speak for itself. You could go back to the Norris era of Wings ownership maybe - but even that was short term compared to the Ford reign of futility. There was some optimism that SHF was going to be an improvement but her poor handling of QuinTricia leaves it an open question whether she's the person to turn this ship around.
  10. they will have lost 10 straight as of today, so well on the way....
  11. wide open receiver drops ball with 5 feet around him. Receivers falls down as ball arrives. Goff may be pretty bad but he's not getting much help either.
  12. all you can really do is try not to be predictable - beyond the value of what that adds - which is not nothing - it will still come down to what your personnel can and can't do.
  13. this is maybe a point at which you fault the new brain trust. If you bring in a QB with the kind of question marks as Goff, should you have spent a little more effort on the #2 position? Or if Goff wasn't good was the fall back just the top pick?
  14. The one hope is that a kid that big is still growing into his adult strength at 22. That is what is so incredibly impressive about Seider at 20. Yeah he's a big kid, but even given that he manhandles strong NHL players with amazing ease.
  15. TBH - That would be more than any M fan had a reasonable expectation for this season.
  16. you have to learn to watch a Lion's football game with the same kind of hopeful but realistic rooting interest with which you would watch one of your 5 yr old's T-ball games.
  17. of course that is true, - it's a rough approximation, but the basic geometry that the target pop is now shrinking pretty rapidly in a way that wasn't true for the previous surges doesn't change.
