  1. Consider that If they are teaching guys how to spin their breaking balls harder, they are also teaching them how to put more load on their UCLs. There is no free lunch in physics, Newton’s 3rd law is going to apply. “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction”
  2. quite the comeback for Lipcius, who was pretty much given up for dead before this year IIRC.
  3. fair question.. Whether throwing at FCL or the like would count as throwing competitive innings I wouldn't speculate. Obvious he is going to continue doing some kind of throwing
  4. I think that is off the table. Well - Hinch thinks it is anyway. The way he talked about 'not being in the room' on the trade negotiations was interesting.
  5. fricking Christo-nationalist conservatives have no idea how small a minority they really are because the damn disinterested in the middle and prog purists won't vote until they see the roof caving in.
  6. 85 on the 27th with the Hens, but he's been in trouble enough tonight I wouldn't send him back out there (Sparky's rule). Hinch may well.
  7. That should be it for Manning. He kept his team in it even with the questionable D behind him. Like Hongbit noted, we need to see the velo get better, but at least he's pitching again.
  8. Well, that was well executed. Refreshing.
  9. Wilmer Flores with 4 IP of 1 hit ball as Erie wins one 1-0 on a Meadows HR.
  10. He's was coining off TJ, so last year you could cut him some slack on the arm for maybe not having rehabbed it thoroughly enough, but that's no excuse this season. No way you can play OF in the big leagues if you can't do better than those last two. He's getting his shot and blowing it.
  11. if true worse than making a bad throw. They don't pay you to be off-guard on the baseball field! 😡
  12. Well that's one way to make sure Al leaves. He never wanted he and Alex to work in the same org!
  13. Agreed, but OTOH you can't write off where his velo might be after a few dozen more IP quite yet.
  14. So Manning give up the solo, the other run and extra pitches are on the D.
  15. geez Akil. I could have thrown him out from there. ...And I haven't picked up a ball in years!
  16. we can only hope to find out.
  17. IOW, a bag of balls
  18. Maybe Yzerman will give Chris a pointer or two on tthe tigers out of sympathy. They’ve known each other a long time.
  19. I suggest they hook him up with Cabrera and try to get them to start some kind of happy charity so both will be too busy to want to play anymore baseball. At least the Padres and Tigers could then feel better about where their money is going, because for sure, it is gone.
  20. LOL, "If pitcher who does't have good arm had a good arm, he'd be a pitcher." Brilliant! OK, sure, some guys find an mph or two with some bio-mech coaching, but is sounds like Anglin needs more like 5. Still "if Anglin can throw harder he’ll become an interesting prospect." is almost a comic line.
  21. according to a Reuters story, Greg Norman says Tiger was offered "$700-800M" to join the Saudi tour and refused. FWIW, it is Greg Norman talking here.... https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/woods-rejected-700-800-million-liv-offer-says-norman-2022-08-02/
  22. ???? The probabilities across multiple years would sum by roughly a binomial dist. If you have a 1/12 chance of winning and go to the playoffs 10 times, your odds of winning at least one are ~60%. Binomial is probably not the best approx for that low a single event probability, but that should be in the ballpark. https://stattrek.com/online-calculator/binomial Lee can probably generate a better approx.
  23. Yup. You get the feeling the motion is mostly in the right direction but that everything has happened more slowly than it should have.
