no doubt about it, but I think it goes to what I see as a growing phenomenon of complaint levels increasing out of proportion to actual pain levels. Maybe it's social media conditioning everyone to bitch in superlatives. But you see things like survey data stating consumer confidence is lower than it has been forever. Sounds like BS to me. Not that the survey isn't the same survey, but today everyone is a drama queen.....🙄

Not sure how many times Trump ever pulled a majority vote in a 2016 primary. As long as there are enough candidates to divide up the non-crazy vote, Trump can triumph by winning all the crazies. OTOH, a two candidate mano-a-mano between Trump and DeSantis might be entertaining if nothing else. No-one in the 2016 field was nearly the bully bastard that DeSantis is to go against the bully bastard Trump. It would no doubt set new lows in US political discourse. The MAGA will love it.

everybody has stuff they believe at what you might call the limbic level, completely pre-rational stuff that we bend all our other modes of thought around to accommodate. Hopefully the stuff you believe at that level doesn't make you a dangerous neighbor or citizen, but sometimes it does. OTOH, though, Bowers wasn't born yesterday, he's an experienced pol despite the kind of babe in the woods image he projected at the hearing. Just because he says that doesn't mean it's true. He has his own political agenda in his state to manage. And he may believe praising Caesar while wielding the dagger only makes the blow more effective.

Maybe all teams do, I don't know/have any sense of any other team's management of its prospects, but the Tigers seem to to be overly sensitive to FOMO, that they are going to prematurely cut bait on a prospect that will make it somewhere else. Maybe it's not the worst failing in the world but there is an opportunity cost to keeping guys like Mike Laga and Christin Stewart and Niko and Willi around so much longer than what appears to be their obvious sell date to anyone on the outside. And then again, maybe this stems from an org not really having any clear ideas what characterizes a player that is going to make it vs one that isn't. Again maybe nobody really does, but when it's your own team, there is a certain 'familiarity breeds contempt' effect.
