  1. that and $3 will get you a Vente.
  2. I'll stand by what I think
  3. I'll put it this way - If my name was going to be official on the papers 5 weeks after the draft, I'd damn well want the input into what was going to happen in that draft. So to me - official or not, it marks Sheila as probably not up to the job. That is based on the fact that most often, the paper work takes weeks - possibly months - to be complete after conditions on the ground have changed. Your YMMV may vary on that view.
  4. I think they'll find a way to cover SS, even if it's only a trade for a promotion ready AAA player. I'm more worried about catcher. Unless they get some miracle development from Dingler that gets him here mid-season, the cupboard is really bare - both in our system and the FA market. I think Eric Haase is a great story - I don't think he can be the anchor at catcher for a winning team. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong. My worry is that he's going to get the chance to....
  5. you think Martha was still doing much at that point? SFH was already pretty much leading mom around by then wasn't she? You suppose she walked in cold the day the papers were signed? It's possible. Mike Ilitch was making bad decisions right till the end......
  6. I go back to the decision not to fire Quinn and Patricia before the 2020 draft. Any hope I had for the 'next generation' of Ford ownership pretty much dissolved then.
  7. I can't think of one that's been worse. There have been other teams with shorter periods of mismanagement and failure but the Lion's record does speak for itself. You could go back to the Norris era of Wings ownership maybe - but even that was short term compared to the Ford reign of futility. There was some optimism that SHF was going to be an improvement but her poor handling of QuinTricia leaves it an open question whether she's the person to turn this ship around.
  8. they will have lost 10 straight as of today, so well on the way....
  9. LOL - blitzing safety runs right past the play.
  10. wide open receiver drops ball with 5 feet around him. Receivers falls down as ball arrives. Goff may be pretty bad but he's not getting much help either.
  11. all you can really do is try not to be predictable - beyond the value of what that adds - which is not nothing - it will still come down to what your personnel can and can't do.
  12. this is maybe a point at which you fault the new brain trust. If you bring in a QB with the kind of question marks as Goff, should you have spent a little more effort on the #2 position? Or if Goff wasn't good was the fall back just the top pick?
  13. blitzing without solid corners......
  14. At least our Pro bowl selection is pretty obvious.
  15. The one hope is that a kid that big is still growing into his adult strength at 22. That is what is so incredibly impressive about Seider at 20. Yeah he's a big kid, but even given that he manhandles strong NHL players with amazing ease.
  16. TBH - That would be more than any M fan had a reasonable expectation for this season.
  17. you have to learn to watch a Lion's football game with the same kind of hopeful but realistic rooting interest with which you would watch one of your 5 yr old's T-ball games.
  18. of course that is true, - it's a rough approximation, but the basic geometry that the target pop is now shrinking pretty rapidly in a way that wasn't true for the previous surges doesn't change.
  19. I didn't get to see the game but looking at the stats and reporting M fans have to feel better about their chances. Assuming McNamara doesn't lose his starting gig next week, MSU will be a good game to have a QB with a very low interception rate....
  20. the three young starters will work additional innings about equal to one additional starter. Added to Tork and Greene that will be the equivalent of three new players. Add 3 FA distributed at SP, SS, C and it makes a turnover of 6 players out of the core of 14 (5 starters plus 9 hitters). That enough turn over to create a lot of possible improvement (or disappointment!). Alexander probably also adds to the rotation but I'd guess he'll be a wash performance wise with Boyd or Peralta or whoever you want to consider him as replacing. And that doesn't include the BP, which is a bigger piece of the puzzle every year. But like any BP from year to year it may go either way. Possible downsides are Cisnero and Funk turn back into the walk machines they have been in the past; another Fulmer injury. Possible upsides: Lange, Roni Garcia, Faedo, Wentz, Madden, Jimenez finds some command, etc....
  21. pretty much. There have been over 1 million confirmed cases in the state to date, which means probably 2 million including asymptomatic infections, and 5.5 million vaccinated. So say the remaining target population is about 2 million. Vaccinations are running about 500K/month and infections are running at 100K/month. So the 'naked' target population is currently falling by >25% per month.
  22. One way of the other I think this is Harbaugh's last coaching stop. I could see them easing him into a long mentorship of a rising young coach like Hart at the end of which the program was all in the hands of the younger man other than the title at which point Jim rides off into the sunset. Maybe we are seeing the beginning of that now.
  23. too many giveaways along with those.
