  1. I've got the domestic reserve list at 175 with six more draftees/UDFA to be added. Those three cuts got us close to meeting the 180 limit.
  2. Harris wasn't, but if Menzin is still the #2, he was. As were Hinch and Fetter. Harris wasn't blind to what happened last year.
  3. Those other teams went in another direction. If this was done Monday night and Rodriguez changed his mind Tuesday as the deal was being finalized, I don't see how you can quickly do a backup deal at that point. Maybe, going forward, do deals with guys with no-trade clauses a couple days before the deadline so you can move onto Plan B? But still, it sounds like Rodriguez's agent moved the goal post.
  4. Yeah, I agree, but thr point wasn't really to validate that hack job front Seidel, but to just point out that he was taking arrows.
  5. There is one particular criteria that I require girls to meet in the wake of the past few years that I am betting Hollywood types see eye to eye with me on. Those Hollywood Actresses may be like Canada in 2021 where Jake wasn't going to be allowed to enter if he wasn't injured. I think Rogers is getting waaaaaaaaaayyyyy overrated in this thread. Anyways, came here to say Rosenthal had a good article up today and his sourcing seems to point at Mato yanking the football at the last minute.
  6. Selling high on Rogers seems wise, and I could see why the Dodgers would want a second catcher. Austin Barnes appears to have fallen off the map this year.
  7. First big test is a load of hot take hooey.
  8. Well, if he says so.
  9. Also possible the offers were underwhelming. He has not been good since returning. Tough break.
  10. Source on .894? Fangraphs has Dodger Stadium at 98 on a 5 year average. Statcast at 100 on a 3 year average.
  11. Is it? I'm not as up on park effects as I once was, but last I remember this wasn't as true as widely believed.
  12. He won't say anything about it. When is the last time you heard a GM talk about a vetoed trade?
  13. It's two months, but not necessarily. If he struggles down the stretch he's stuck there three years.
  14. If it's a state tax deal, and I suspect it is, other contenders that may rule out include the Brewers, Twins, Yankees, Padres, Giants, and Blue Jays.
  15. I'd take anything from that site with a grain of salt. Maybe kosher salt, but salt nonetheless.
  16. Worth noting they shuffled a lot of minor leaguers to the 60 day IL over the weekend to make room for draftees.
  17. So McCosky says in his latest column the Tigers can get a comp pick if they keep Rodriguez. They can't. He is wrong again.
  18. He's from Virginia so there may be some pull there. A lot of no trade stuff comes down to taxes, too, which would put the Astros, Mariners, Rangers at an advantage.
  19. The Cubs are now, after the trade, about 3.5M under the CBT and likely want to stay under with the flexibility to make more trades. Yes, I would say every dollar counts, and may have even affected the leverage of the trading team as other suitors bowed out.
  20. The JD trade was clearly ownership mandated to dump salary. The financials of that team, Chris's first, were beyond untenable, and I think played a big role in the paltry returns for JD, Upton, and to an extent, Verlander. In the Forbes numbers, the 2017 team has one of the biggest non-COVID operating loss numbers for any team season in recent history. And would have been even worse if not for those dumps.
  21. And at a higher price tag, the Tigers wouldn't have even gotten that on the deal.
  22. He gets way too big of a pass for the 2009 incident. Both from the beating his wife standpoint and from the getting blackout drunk the last weekend of the year with the division on the line standpoint. Inexcusable on all ends.
  23. I really hope they aren't making decisions on "buying or selling" next year now. I wouldn't put much stock in this. I'm sure up until a month ago, the Mets weren't planning on "selling." If you fall out of contention, you sell so you can recoup value for your roster. This depends entirely on how the season goes.
  24. They shuffled the rotation and Hinch all but admitted Eduardo and Lorenzen are likely to be traded. Why does it matter if the trade happens August 1 or July 28?
