Overall, a pretty decent day for 2022 draft picks... all except Luke Gold got hits in their debuts I believe

All I'm gonna say is that if they manage to win this and Garcia ekes out another inning, I hope he’s not the guy they interview afterward. 6 G'd walks lol -

47 pitches in two innings. Is that baaaad? -

You'll have to ask Miggy that question. Whether he comes back next year or not is kind of up to him.

Brendon Davis can play the corners, that makes two. They are shy a starting CF. Ground softening for a Parker Meadows bump up?

I'm in that boat too, but it was hard to ever believe that would be the case without the "Big Man" saying it himself. That changed yesterday... he came out and said it... in the grand scheme of things, as bad as the lineup is and the fact that Miguel still probably isn't the worst part of the lineup, it's a positive development in the grand scheme of things. Just as the Tigers need to close the book on the Avila era, they need to close the book on Miguel as well.

Not an earth shattering signing, but Wilmer Flores' brother Wilmer Flores makes a lot of sense with where they are in terms of infield versatility and with as many question marks that they have at 1B / 3B.

Agree on all points - I think he comes back and he players better. He did switch agents recently, but I suspect he's not opting out, he'd never get the salary he'll command next year. As I see it, of the regulars, they separate into three buckets: Coming back - Greene (CF), Baez (SS), Schoop (2B), Meadows (LF/RF/DH), Torkelson* (1B) On the bubble, bench players or gone - Candelario (3B), Haase (C), Baddoo/Reyes/Castro (LF/RF), Barnhart, (C) The second category (not all inclusive) is where they need to focus their attention most IMO. Particularly 3B and additional outfielders if Rogers comes back and looks halfway respectable.... What makes it difficult is that 3B is pretty lean this offseason and with OF in particular, they really need one that is a switch hitter or bats right given how lefty heavy they are (with Greene/Meadows being L/L guys). I don't know how his defense is, but someone like Mitch Haniger (if he comes back and performs after coming back off of injury) and Jurickson Profar come to mind there. I suspect that they end up tendering Candy in the end and, if they are active, they probably focus a lot on OF. But who knows.

The other problem is Jonathan Schoop - in all likelihood, he's accepting his player option and coming back next year. I doubt they are going to eat his salary under any circumstances.

I don't know that this is the case really.... particularly if they work out some sort of salary deferment of buyout of Miggy.

This may be what happens in the end, but there are ways to manage it... Chris Davis comes to mind - basically a less extreme Bobby Bonilla situation where salary ends up spread out over a set number of years -

Wouldn't even know where to begin in coming up with a fair buyout. My gut tells me something like half of his remaining salary. But idk -

Idk if Miggy is still marketable as a guy hitting .160 with zero ability to drive the ball. His comments yesterday suggest to me a realization that this may not be getting better. -

That first outing of his was legendary... cannot remember seeing such a disastrous outing end in 0 earned runs lol -

This came to my mind as well. If there is a regime change (and that's a big if), the next person may not want to deal with having to accommodate Miguel as well. I've always been of the mind that he'd play it all out, but the way this season has transpired is the equivalent of a blinking neon sign that says "it's time for retirement". -

Interesting -
Very skepitcal that Ryan can win, but I think we've seen enough to conclude that Vance is an awful candidate and should be grouped in with the Oz/Walker/Masters crowd.

Godspeed Kids... hope the org doesn't **** up your hitting abilities lol

The fanbase probably would have raked Avila over the coals for doing nothing as well, but with this kinda return on Fulmer, you wonder if the raking would have been less harsh tbh.

No argument there. But again, my comment is more about Tork than the Tigers organization.... it doesn't matter who the player is or what organization a player is a part of, if they are sent down to the minors specifically to work on mechanics, it is a reasonable expectation that it may take more than six games worth of ABs before you see progress. Tork is largely not being given that benefit of the doubt. Reasonable people can disagree, but I think it's kind of unfair to him and that he has time to course correct and become a good ballplayer.
