  1. This hearing is doing a great deal to establish, directly, that Trump knew he lost. He cannot claim ignorance or to have been misled. He got all the advisement in the world and chose to ignore it
  2. Meadows needs to be fitted for orange
  3. Cheney indicates that Cipillone's testimony satisfied their request
  4. I guess I'm not aware of how any team looking to sign ERod would have anticipated this situation happening. It seems like another flavor of "The Rays knew Austin Meadows had vertigo" to me... and that was street rat crazy lol
  5. At the risk of speculating a little, a marriage is a two way street... IOW, if it were substance abuse, there is a possibility that it may not be ERod who is having the problems. I kinda go back to AJ's comment a few weeks back about him being home with his kids... it may have been a throwaway line, but it opens that door as a possibility imo. IDK enough about league rules to know whether spouses are covered the same as players in terms of those issues. But just in general when I see speculation about whatever problems are going on, it seems centered purely on the player. We just don't know enough information to really get a read IMO.
  6. From a PR perspective, I don't quite understand ERod's strategy here. I can get treating it like a private matter and even that fans aren't entitled to intimate details. And whatever arrangement to handle whatever matters at hand are between the employer and employee. I'm cool with that. But Al coming out and saying that he's keeping the team in the dark, that is really unprofessional. And Al giving a "no comment" answer on the possibility of voiding the contract suggests to me that the Tigers are pretty frustrated behind the scenes. It is the kind of behavior that suggests indifference about coming back, but we don't have enough information to know for sure what is going on.
  7. There is little to no new information about ERod, to the extent there is any it is that Avila came out and said that there has been no communication with the team. The reasons for him being gone may be entirely valid (I tend to believe they are more valid than the average Tiger fan seems to)... but nature abhors a vacuum, so in the absence of information, people are gonna speculate and fill in the blanks as they see fit.
  8. Up the middle position players as strengths? Maybe in Lakeland, but not above lol
  9. The overall numbers aren't great for Clemens of course, he's sub .200 at the moment. But OTOH, he's been fairly decent since his 0-17 start as well. The Grossman thing just sucks because the reasons for him staying have nothing to do with merit at this point; it's all about circumstances. He's seen as a viable trade chip (whether we feel that way or not) and, quite possibly, is a manager favorite as well
  10. Maybe. Looking at his stats, I wonder if he could stand to a move to the pen.
  11. The general consensus around the Braves system is that it is in the lower third in terms of strength at the moment. Tigers system isn't too different... really pitcher heavy as opposed to having quality depth in terms of position players. The Braves side of the trade is interesting to me... they must have someone they really like who will be there at 35
  12. Former Oriole first rounder.... possible reclamation project candidate
  13. He stayed back on that ball well...
  14. I do think Grossman may be on thin ice, but I doubt anything happens until after the deadline... and I get it, they want to see if they can return value and this is not a season that is gonna result in the playoffs so its low stakes. But as fans, I can see the frustration with waiting this out... on merit, Grossman just seems like a worse option to Baddoo based on his limited time in Toledo and that seems like a natural reaction at this point.
  15. With Hutch, he kinda had to work a bit to get out of the fifth and it felt like bringing him back to face the heart of their order was risky. It's a smaller offense though, as you suggest, he's trying to manage his staff during this time and Hutch, overall, pitched legitimately well today. With the Soto decision, it's hard because Soto got a ground ball that, at least from my vantage point, looks like an out if the defense is playing straight up, so it's hard to be too critical of how he pitched... he got the result that he wanted, it just found the hole. That said, I don't understand the need to pull Fulmer in that situation even after the IBB. It just reeks of overmanagement, which AJ can do occasionally (obligatory disclaimer that I like AJ Hinch and am glad he's here) Which kinda leaves Grossman and the offense as the culprits today. That error was costly and, outside of Baez in the first, they just couldn't get hits when they needed them.
  16. I dont know that Grossman is dogging it... but with a team that is 36-49 and a player on an expiring deal, when better options who are younger are a phone call away, it's hard to justify keeping him around when he's not hitting and he's misplaying balls in the outfield.
  17. Was in attendance for this one. This one hangs on Grossman, had a great view of that play and could tell that was gonna be a disaster in real time. But there were some questionable decisions management wise as well... kinda thought AJ was playing with fire leaving Hutch out there in the 6th and really didn't love the decision to play the match up with Sheets versus Soto. And naturally, the Sox get the pinch hit single against the shift to make it 3-2. It's not the primary reason they lost, but I thought he overmanaged the 8th. I would have left Fulmer in and would have been OK with whatever resulted.
  18. They already have to an extent. The big issue looming on the horizon are workloads for Brieske and Faedo. It would be nice to get Manning back before those become more acute issues
  19. I believe Tucker Carlson is doing it because he has a history of doing it. Not sure why he deserves the benefit of being treated in good faith given his line of work.
  20. As always, it's not enough to simply disagree with the man's politics. They gotta make up fake controversy
  21. Is it safe to call Beau Brieske good yet?
