  1. Could you imagine being spammed 18 times a day by Rudy Colludy?
  2. Ultimately the ceiling is higher for Baddoo, but as for this moment I stand by my comment. Some of what we have seen lately in Toledo has been encouraging, but they will want to see it sustained before he plays his way back into the conversation. Either way, I like Derek Hill and there are pieces of his game that are major league, but the bat doesn't do enough to stick. I'd rather see him before Willi in the outfield, but that may be about it.
  3. It also seems kinda early to compare ERod to Jordan Zimmermann.... yet people keep doing it anyway.
  4. I could see Akil and Daz Cameron being in a similar league mostly because Daz was starting to really show some promise before going on COVID IL, but I don't see how Derek Hill is ahead of Akil Baddoo simply based on the age discrepency and lack of bat to ball skills. He plays good defense and has a lot of speed, but aside from that, Hill hasn't shown to be much more than AAAA player.
  5. Seems like a big deal
  6. Probably not often. In Michigan terms, imagine this all transpiring in Lapeer or Adrian or some place like that. I know that the job is dangerous and I don't want to be too harsh on police, but the job is pretty attractive as well: it pays well, the benefits are fantastic. Even in states like Texas which are hostile to union membership, their ability to unionize is practically sacrosanct. Outside of maybe the fire department, they are the God's of civil service. They are valued far more than the guy who works for the Public Works department who keeps the water tap running or the the Parks Department employee who keeps the parks clean. But that level of value that they provide comes with the expectation that when the rubber meets the road, that they will put their lives on the line to take care of problems as they arise. And this was just a global failure all around, and hearing all the fallout from the event and how public officials are responding here locally, it is (correctly) delivering a blow to all the "thin blue line" virtue signaling that abounds here... the contours of the debate over policing after the George Floyd protests still exist to an extent, but I do think that the "police are never wrong" subtext that the "thin blue line" flags and decals convey is being challenged.
  7. That ball that Haase hit in the 7th being caught was pretty deflating. He tattooed that ball, just somehow found Verdugo's glove.
  8. Too close to take, kid
  9. Yeah, he has earned more runway with the bat...
  10. It will drive fans nuts, but he's managing this team more in terms of development than actually winning tonight. Although the 5th inning thing doesn't compute regardless. You're looking a gift horse in the mouth to send Faedo back out there after getting out of that self induced jam lol
  11. Yeah, I was fine with how last inning went, but bringing him back out for the 5th made no sense
  12. I think he was trying to challenge Faedo in that moment. It's risky. But in the context of a developing ball club, I am OK with it
  13. Really good AB from that young man (paraphrasing Jimmie P)
  14. Its only one run, but unlike earlier parts of the season, it felt like they would get that one in. that's the Greene Effect lol
  15. I can volunteer tmrw, fwiw
  16. Can Cash Considerations hit? lol
  17. They probably need to see if he can keep this hot streak going so as to increase his value on trade. Example below of how he may have value if he's playing a little better:
  18. It's surprisingly not controversial here, although Juneteenth has been observed for a while here.
  19. Man, the GOP Consultant Class is amoral... "a bad look"??? Also, the ad is " a bad look", but the folks making a big deal about calls to violence in political advertisements? They're the real villains here
  20. Absolutely gross. Yet it will probably juice his primary numbers.
  21. One thing that has grown on me about Comerica (full disclosure, I haven't been in years, this is strictly from a TV perspective) - the backdrop with the Detroit Skyline in the background. It's never going to be Pittsburgh, but especially in our current era where Globe Life Field, with it's generic look and Costco-like atmosphere, is considered the model ballpark, there's something to be said about a ballpark located in the central business district of a city and not out in suburbia. Just more aesthetically pleasing. Like G2, the dimensions of the ballpark are fine and generate more action than I think the park gets credit for, owing to the amount of room in the gaps and the possibilities of triples that don't exist most places.
  22. I will say that I find it a bit frustrating that fans tend to rush to make a lot of judgments about players and their future prospects when they play poorly (ie. Torkelson) but, when you get Faedo or Brieske who have performed reasonably well under the circumstances, the reaction is more "just give it time" With Brieske in particular, there's a natural skepticism because of where he was drafted and his quick rise through the system. But when you look at his progression through the season, he has improved a lot since he first made his major league debut. He's getting more swing and miss, his slider is starting to be a better pitch, and his peripheral stats (still not great) have steadily improved as well. Development isn't linear, obviously, and he's likely to have some struggles.... he's ceiling isn't more than a fourth starter. But I don't think he's a fraud either.
  23. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2022/06/19/detroit-tigers-farm-wenceel-perez/7677097001/ Pretty complimentary stuff from Ryan Garko on Wenceel Perez.... encouraging
  24. They DFA'd Hutchison, which I believe gets them to 13
