  1. The blame game is old.... if people feel strongly about this, they just need to get out and vote accordingly.
  2. Good Lord, Clarence is a nutjob... Jeebus
  3. Possibly the only fig leaf I've seen so far, although I don't trust Kav at all
  4. Yeah. Pretty much.
  5. Can't wait for the "let's return it to the states" crowd to be come the "let's ban it everywhere" crowd.
  6. A lot of folks downplay what happened in the First Impeachment, saying it wasn't impeachable, etc.... but it's honestly one of the most clear and instructive events as to how Trump operates. And how it's more like what we associate with a Mob Boss than an American President. The parallels between what he asked Zelensky to do with what he himself attempted to have done with the DOJ are hard to miss.
  7. This, but unironically.... it'd be a pretty good hire.
  8. He'll be back for one more year... probably will announce in the offseason, setting up for some tributes at visiting ballparks next year.
  9. I do think the idea of Al being moved into some emeritus role makes sense - I believe he is the oldest GM in baseball and is approaching his mid-60s. EDIT: DD is also around the same age, but does not hold the GM title in Philly (Sam Fuld does)
  10. Is Tony Packo's still the place to go before the game?
  11. Not just the acting DOJ, but basically all the leadership threatened to resign en masses. Its a good point... it's a giant collective action problem and there could be power in numbers. But GOP politicians are a bunch of beta wimps.
  12. It would have been an absolute shit show if they (the administration) didn't back down..... DOJ would have imploded.
  13. I'm trying to imagine being in the room with one of these highly professional lawyers watching one of these batshit crazy conspiracy videos....
  14. Yep, the Ukraine playbook. The investigation doesn't matter at all, just the announcement of an investigation.
  15. The Ukraine playbook.... this line is a throughline to the first impeachment!
  16. I didn't think he did on Tuesday. Honestly, the lack of grandstanding in these hearings has been pretty refreshing.
  17. My point is that the entire discussion for the past 15 months about AJ and his relationship with the Tigers has been among this fan base has been framed on speculation that ultimately may not even be true. And had said speculation not happened, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. To be clear, I'm not defending the Tigers either, maybe they could be a little more transparent about the contract status of their management team. But even setting aside the comment about the opt out, Rosenthal's reporting pretty clearly states that AJ Hinch is under contract through 2025 (and attributed to 'sources', not Avila himself). I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that Rosenthal doesn't report this stuff if he doesn't believe it's accurate.
  18. If Lynn Henning hadn't said anything about an opt out, would there have been 15 months of speculation over it? The answer is NO. If Lynn is going to make claims like that, Lynn should provide evidence or at least be able to back up the assertion. Otherwise he should be disregarded. Feelings about Avila be damned.
