  1. I don't think Riley is in any danger of being sent to Toledo at this point.... he's holding his own.
  2. Maybe they can clone him and we could live out this hypothetical in a few years?
  3. I have no reason to believe that, if/when he returns from his injury, the Tigers wouldn't intend to use him as a starter. The fact that you have guys like Manning, Garcia, Hill, etc. out there means that there will be some options to pick up innings in the second half of the year. All of whom I'd rather see than Dallas Keuchel.
  4. I'm sure part of the calculation for the team is that Manning and Rony Garcia will end up coming back and covering part of the workload, which added to Skubal, Pineda, Hutch, gives them 5 starters who should have stamina to cover much of the remaining workload (knock on wood). Not counting any contributions that Hill, Brieske, Faedo, or ElRod they get. Or (unlikely) if the other Rod comes back. Their situation isn't great, but it doesn't warrant wasting a roster spot on Keuchel. TBH, I don't think there's a team in the league that should be desperate enough, he's toast.
  5. Senator Hotwheels lol
  6. Will say this for Fister... not charismatic or polished in the booth, but he's as sharp as Avila Jr. in terms of knowing the game.
  7. Greg Gania isn't DD, but he's pretty darned good. He would sound good on Bally Sports Detroit
  8. Greg can fill in anytime... he's very good.
  9. If Skubal manages to go 7 innings of 1-hit ball, we'll always wonder lol
  10. The truth is somewhere in between here, he has continued to show improvement with his command (which started to turn around a couple of starts ago)
  11. Would it be too much to ask Robbie for a hit here? lol
  12. Greg Gania would be so good on the Bally broadcast every game....
  13. Shep says it's only for a couple of starts, but we've seen this movie before lol
  14. They are gonna lose some guys off the current 40 man roster due to trades and / or expiring contracts (Grossman, Barnhart, Pineda, Fulmer all obvious candidates, possibly Chafin or Soto as well), so they'll have some opportunities to find room for them. But yeah, even with this subpar roster, it will be more challenging than normal.
  15. There was a lot of discussion around the time Arizona picked him up that it may have been in part because Brent Strom (previous longtime Astros pitching coach) is pitching coach there. If "Strommy" can't fix Keuchel, he's not likely to be fixed. We all know his pedigree and track record, but fans of the Detroit Tigers (of all teams) should know that track records aren't always predictive of future results.
  16. The Tigers will have some decisions in terms of the 40 man because Carpenter (among a number of other players) is Rule 5 eligible this offseason, but if they believe in him, they'll find a way to keep him regardless of Miggy's presence.
