Yeah, I agree. I don't like it but it's the only way teams can be successful these days. On the other hand, trading our mid prospects to help the team this season wouldn't hinder our 2027 and beyond roster. Harris isn't strong at making trades, either teams don't like dealing with him or he puts way too much value on our AA players. And we all know most prospects never make it. So having 4 catching prospects is pointless while the big league team is starved for pitching right now. Its like we went from DD who traded anyone with a pulse to help the major league roster to Harris, who hoards prospects. But he DID say that there's guys who will help us this season. I sure hope they can pitch...😅😅

All we know is the Tigers were unable to acquire any of the top arms that were available. Or Suarez. And Harris' words don't really make sense. He said the position players that got us to the playoffs last year deserved playing time this season. But the Tigers also replaced almost their entire bullpen from last season. So I guess our pitchers who helped us into last years playoffs didn't deserve playing time this season? I'm sorry but I see it different. He won't say it but he's afraid to trade any "prospects" for two reasons. One...because they just may turn into quality players someday. And two...he needs to use these prospects when he lets established Tiger players walk once they become too expensive. Yeah, I'm cynical.

Well, yeah. Using both your catchers in the original lineup? Using your worst BP arm 1st in a close game? Both questionable moves seemed to have worked out, except for the loss. But at least he got Riley into the game. 😒😒

There were arms available at the deadline without giving up our top prospects. But it appears that we see a weakness in Harris. His inability to make significant trades.

It's not so much on Hinch, he has to use the guys Harris gets him. But the only sure thing about our bullpen arms is that they will be inconsistent. They replaced guys with 4 70 ERAs with guys with 4 69 ERAs. Montero with his 5.50 ERA doesn't inspire much confidence, even if he did pitch a scoreless 2 innings or so. Next game? He'll give up a few runs. That is, if you believe the stats.

Rebuilding a pitching staff in August rarely works. Especially with other teams rejects.
