Seems to be less profile/toolsy types and more focus on players who do fundamental things very well, like pitch recognition, plate discipline, and defensive instincts.
When they first moved to Comerica Park, they were always trying to get guys who “ would fit the ballpark”……and then we ended up with a bunch of speedy leadoff hitters that didnt get on base (Alex Sanchez, Roger Cedeno, etc.) and below average utility guys who could play multiple positions on the field (Jose Macias, Craig Paquette, Shane Halter).
We are finally at the “draft guys who are fundamentally good at the game” strategy
