  1. I feel like Keith being a LHH is now hurting him. Everywhere he could slot into the lineup defensively there’s either a much better defender on roster or a substantially better power threat that we need to keep in the lineup. If he hit Right Handed then you could at least do platoons at 3B and DH a lot easier.
  2. I wish leaving the gang was an option once you got enough money
  3. I’ve seen enough. Yost needs to make the team as the starting SS. Release McGonigle.
  4. I’d much rather see our LHBs be able to hold their own against most LHPs. I think McGonigle, Keith, Greene and Carpenter are all capable of that.
  5. So are we still in the era of rostering fringe guys who either can’t hit or can’t field, or are we going to enter the age of expecting all 26 guys to be mlb caliber?
  6. At this point, I’d rather start with McGonigle and Jung on the team and put Meadows, Wenceel and Jones in Toledo and make them hit their way back up to Detroit. Let Javy and Vierling share CF duty and have Carpenter and Keith be the primary DH candidates. Let Jung back up 1B/3B and McGonigle play every day at SS. I like Cruz, but he’s a bit redundant until we move on from Javy or McKinstry.
  7. I enjoy inter league play because it allows fans from all teams opportunities to see stars on teams from the other league. Example: I went to the Dodgers/Tigers game this past year with a couple family members and got to see Ohtani and crew. This year I’m going to go to a Tigers game at Wrigley. Those types of things didn’t have the possibility to exist when I was younger outside of a World Series.
  8. On the flip side, this schedule likely reduces weather impacting the games for the first few series. Maybe we’d have more early season scheduling options if we played in a stadium with a roof.
  9. I don’t care about the stats. I care about how they look. You can hit .100 for a week or two but still be barrelling up pitches and managing the strike zone well. There’s a few of our guys who don’t seem to be doing much anything encouraging. Meadows and Wenceel specifically don’t need to be gifted roster spots if they can’t start showing out well in some capacities. We finally have enough guys who justify roster spots in spring training to not have to just hope and pray someone who has been inconsistent at best will suddenly flip a switch and be solid. Same with pitching. Don’t need to gift bullpen spots to guys who go out there and can’t find the zone at all on some outings or guys who just go throw hittable stuff with no real punch out pitch. McGonigle needs to make the team.
  10. I’d be fine if Hurter and Hanifee didn’t make the team. Go get Danny Coulombe.
  11. The WBC does nothing for me. I only care about the Tigers that are playing in it. Judge/Skenes/Raleigh/Harper/etc are all still the enemy to me.
  12. A perfect summation of St Louis fans
  13. I’d like to see us add Danny Coulombe to the bullpen still. I’m not inspired by Holton/Hurter being our pen Lefties. Someone with a bit more late-inning setup experience and consistency would help a lot. Maybe Horn or Sommers emerge as key pieces to the pen, but if we are going for broke this year with Skubal—I’d rather see us learn from our previous regimes mistakes and have a well diversified pen.
  14. McGonigle needs to make this team and I’d be fine if it came at the expense of Parker Meadows not making the team. A lineup that looks something like: 1.) Torres (DH) 2.) McGonigle (2B) 3.) Greene (LF) 4.) Torkelson (1B) 5.) Carpenter (RF) 6.) Dingler (C) 7.) Keith (3B) 8.) Vierling (CF) 9.) Baez (SS) or 1.) Torres (2B) 2.) McGonigle (SS) 3.) Greene (LF) 4.) Torkelson (1B) 5.) Carpenter (DH) 6.) Dingler (C) 7.) Keith (3B) 8.) Vierling (RF) 9.) Baez (CF) with a bench of Rogers, McKinstry, and 2 of Perez/Cruz/Jones would probably be our best look right now. I’d feel a lot more comfortable with Javy at short and McG at 2B than having a left side infield of Keith and McG though.
  15. I believe it’s just “outfield”
  16. Riley Greene and McKinstry up for silver slugger awards. Neither deserve it.
  17. Frank Catalonotto > Juan Gonzalez
  18. I’d rather have had Fryman than Bernie in the first place…..
  19. I think he was the only Cleveland player I ever rooted for.
