  1. Provided the 2026 elections are free and fair. You can ask Edman about that.
  2. Yeah, that's kind of how it looks to me. The account is following me and there's not any connection that I can see to me or anyone here.
  3. Yes, but the main trick is determining whether the replacement at hand is better than the resource you have in house. If so, the next trick is to not overpay in years and risk checkmating yourself if it's not working out.
  4. I only vaguely remember this, but had Monaghan successfully moved the team out of town, I'm not so sure Detroit would have gotten a replacement team anytime soon after, despite the market size. We might still be without a team today had that happened. After all, there's another top ten market, bigger than Detroit, that went without a team for over three decades.
  5. That's fine, as not only would this or a new owner benefits with billions from the move, but it would re-open up the #11 market in the country as the prime foil in the Build-Me-A-New-Stadium-Or-I'm-Moving-The-Team gambit.
  6. That didn't fly over your head! 😉😝
  7. Time for Tork, or time for the Tigers?
  8. Did you see it? Did you like it?
  9. I guess it's technically a timer, since timers count down and clocks count up. So, timer's ticking. Meaning someone's fi'na get booted.
  10. Does anyone know who or what "Raelene Oullette" is? That's a bluesky account that started following me out of nowhere. A bunch of people here follow it, and it follows over 3,000 accounts, but there is but a single post from it. Can anyone vouch for it?
  11. I tried to do something like that with this thread: But it seems as though this other thread may well get more traction: Either way, I'll go where the people go.
  12. Clock's ticking ...
  13. My main concern about Bluesky is what happens when the Russian operatives, bomb-throwing radical right-wingers and leftists, charlatans, and other unsavory characters come into that environment with the intention of poisoning it and dragging it down to the level of X? Is there any mechanism in place for policing that, or will this become just another poster child for bogus free speech absolutism? If there is no actual governance—if it operates strictly on on-your-honor norms and not actual policies with real consequences—then what’s to stop that from happening? Hopefully there’s some governance in place. Does anyone know?
  14. They will need to develop an iPad version of Bluesky, soon, I hope.
  15. @adequatesamaritan.bsky.social Baseball/sports-only feed.
  16. Acting Secretary of HHS.
  17. Acting Secretary of Defense indefinitely. Well, at least he won’t overrule Trump’s desire to send the military into cities to root out disloyal people.
  18. More like Kyle Rittenhouse for Capitol Police Chief.
  19. That ship sailed long, long ago, e.g., new stadiums for major league sports. Now this approach will be applied to everything once thought only a public institution. The Trump regime plans to starve cities and blue states of support at the federal level in order to redirect and pocket the tax revenue themselves instead. So, exit services maintained in the public interest by a democratically-elected government—enter privately-capitalized ventures such as tuition-only education subsidized only at the corporate level, and subscription-based police and fire service.
  20. Yeah, this thread might pass Aisle Lunatic before long.
  21. Just saw it yesterday. It will probably be the frontrunner for the Oscar, and not just for its actual quality of presentation, which I agree is top-notch. The type of story and the moral it tells is very trenchant for Hollywood at this particular time. Some people will think it too on the nose, but I’d watch it again if for nothing else than the photography and the performances.
  22. Western civilization, baby.
  23. You're probably right, but I still think it should go to Hinch, who actually had to manage a team that cycled rookies through 50% of the lineup because the players and pitchers they were depending on in April to help us win this year were either hurt, terrible, or traded.
  24. You might be right on the QO, but I am not at all certain having Tork on the team as of today is all that much of a barrier. Your solution might be the one they go with.
