Hope we see some maps from you! (Not top secret, of course ... unless you feel like it ... 😉)
  2. I'm sure it goes well together with a mix of expired Uncle Ben's Rice and expired Cream of Wheat.

    MAP PR0N!

I've had the idea before to start a thread in which people could post interesting maps of all types that they come across, but just never got around to it until now. So here is that thread. I'll start it out with a few posts and let's see if this thread gets any traction. Why place the thread in the political forum? Because I suspect that when certain maps get posted, a political discussion/debate/fight might ensue, so better to segregate the map thread from the genteel parts of the forum now than have to move it later. But maps are, almost by definition, political anyway, so might as well just acknowledge the potential for such spirited discourse upfront.
  10. They don’t want young people with kids coming to Florida. Young people are a threat to spread socialist ideas and vote Democrat. They want rich or wealthy old people to live there, people who are comfortable feeling entitled to have an underclass of immigrants serving them. That’s a rich tradition that goes way back to the old times there that are not forgotten.
  11. White jerseys on black pants make them look like amateurs.
  12. I would think there'd be some narrow definition of "public figure" that would include the person trading somehow on their fame. You or I, as mopes posting on a political forum, couldn't be considered "public figures" for this purpose, could we?
  13. Too bad we can't see the whole thing, but makes sense, just like the Vanity Fair article posted earlier.
  14. товарищ keeps posting pictures that are years old and not even taking place in Chicago, as well as posting nonsensical links to general headlines. Also, police say that one shooting took place outside the Loop, which is away from where the gathering was, and don't even bother saying where the other shooting took place. That's so Stan.
  15. No, of course I won't, because Dominion are not doing this on my behalf or at my behest, so I have no obligation to help make them whole. Even so, I am still rooting for them to not settle and to instead take Fox all the way through trial, regardless of what it costs them and despite my not having any direct stake in it. I actually think Dominion has already won a lot even so far. They have gotten the judge to make summary judgments on the facts of the case so they do not even have to argue that they are true anymore. They are, and that really limits what Fox can argue going forward. I'm just hoping they don't conclude that's enough winning so let's take the settlement. I want them to earn the billion-six through trial.
  16. Are they going to ask me to help pay the Dominion settlement? I didn't know they could do that. If they asked me, I would have to say no. I know that we have evolved into assuming that nothing can ever change when this sort of momentous event comes up, but I am hoping against naive hope that somehow this will be different, in that it might spur tougher regulation or even legislation, stemming from a change in the interpretation of Sullivan. I understand that's a long, long shot, but then, so was winning the 2006 AL pennant.
  17. That's pretty funny—although I would not doubt that some folks do seriously write it out as "pre madonna", even though I've never seen it ...
  18. Media companies may claim that the only effect to weakening Sullivan will be to intimidate them from doing legitimate investigative journalism because of the risk of being sued, but it is much, much more likely that it would be used against companies who use their media vehicles perpetrate lies and threats against enemies of their choosing.
  19. If it were only their dollars at stake, I wouldn't care, but there's so much more at stake than that, so I do care. I don't think a media company should be allowed to use brazen lies to rile up murderous rage in people as a business model, and I would like this court case to be the linchpin to stopping that if at all possible.
  20. It wasn't because I miss Robbie Grossman that I posted that.
  21. There were no riots. Just a bunch of people milling about and cops standing around them. Even in the video which is supposed to be evidence of some sort, the worst I saw was a group of people half-running down the street, and one broken window of unknown provenance. I agree with Brandon Johnson that we should not demonize all people for the actions of just a few. If any right-winger doesn’t want to come to the city because the mayor elect speaks out against demonizing all youth, then stay home. Fine with me.
  22. Everything’s coming up A.J.!
