  1. All things he hasn't had since high school. At what point is it fair to suggest he's not capable of those things?
  2. A relief role has been the obvious projection for Flores for 2+ years. This shouldn't be surprising at all.
  3. It all boils down to how his patience and strike zone knowledge translates when pitchers are throwing more strikes than he's ever seen, and better quality strikes at that. Does the strikeout rate spike and power dip because he's still trying to wait out pitchers, or did he adjust and swing more at pitches he can drive?
  4. Nope, fake to Montgomery, 32 yards to Raymond.
  5. No, Keith is a real prospect. He's not a world beater, but he's a good player that will have a 7-8 year career
  6. Also, let's be clear, anybody that thought they got a "real" prospect for Joe Jimenez....was, wait for the word, delusional.
  7. When they don't discuss an actual position in the answer, that's code for he has absolutely no position.
  8. I once wrote that Billy Nowlin was allergic to leather. He was terrible defensively, at any position.
  9. Malloy hasn't shown any ability to capably use any glove at this point. He's a DH.
  10. The problem is his stuff had been that volatile since he was on the prospect radar. You could see home one start in HS and he'd be electric and the next he was completely ordinary.
  11. Just to be clear....that was the knock on him since high school! Soft as baby poo.
  12. Almost like it was a done deal way before this....
  13. Barring a completely catastrophic turn of events (think major medical flags or the kid just straight walking away), this deal gets done. They knew exactly what he wanted before they picked him and don't make the selection that high without it being a 99% certainty. Once they drafted McGonigle, their math and draft decisions included his number.
  14. Correct. GMs don't make the picks. They may influence strategy, budget approach, etc., but the scouting team is empowered to make the selections.
  15. High round picks there is very little doubt what the number/terms are. Lower round picks there can be some uncertainty, but they always have a good idea even on the low round guys. That's where your area scouts make their money....building the relationship with the player/family, and knowing what it will take to sign them.
  16. The Tigers knew exactly the amount needed to sign him, the minute they picked him.
  17. I've been consistently getting 8-9, but the last couple are a struggle at times.
  18. I was pretty proud of my Lloyd Moseby pick for the Blue Jay/Tiger.
  19. If you're just looking at stats, I'd suggest you don't get any type of real read until Double-A.
  20. OBP is exceptionally misleading in the complex leagues, particularly the DSL, because the caliber of pitching is so wildly variable. Frankly, stats of any kind at that level of affiliated ball are borderline meaningless.
  21. As an innocent bystander, I'd be amused at the outrage when it came out that the waste was transported by truck and nobody was advised of the route. "I can't believe you drove that through my neighborhood!" "I was not advised that any of my constituents would be subjected to the risk of having this waste transported so close to their homes." I dealt with something similar on a project years ago....contaminated site (cyanide, heavy metals, the soil was bright blue in many areas) in the middle of a residential neighborhood with an elementary school, church, and walking path nearby. Full funding is secured to execute the cleanup in just 1-2 years and the public freaks out that we might drive it past their house to get it out of there....okay, well, there is literally one route available out of the site. You choose....want it to stay there or do you want it gone?
  22. Political theater....those US Ecology facilities are among only a handful of landfills in the country permitted to accept TSCA-regulated (Toxic Substances Control Act) waste. They receive soil and groundwater waste from around the country, much of it as bad or worse than the waste coming from East Palestine; many of my own projects have sent waste there over the years, particularly once the one in Model City, NY stopped accepting material. Government officials in each of those states have permitted the US Ecology facilities and they are never specifically notified of waste received, as long as it is in compliance with their pre-established permit. Coming out now to say they weren't aware their jurisdictions were receiving waste is a bunch of BS and purely theater to be lapped up by the masses.
