1) its not going to happen.  its just more ineptitude on behalf of the bears, specifically kevin warren.  aka the ultimate grifter empty suit.  he's bungled this to an amazing degree.

2) if it DID happen (which lolololololbears), its hammond, not Gary.  and its literally 5 feet from chicago.  this is the equivalent of building a stadium in pontiac, mi and saying "see?  pontiac can support a team so can quebec."

Are Chicagoans really going to drive to a suburb of Gary, IN like Hammond, with absolutely nothing to do or see before or after a football game? It feels like moving to a Gary suburb like Hammond will be a disaster for attendance. No reason now that we can't get a team in Quebec if the Gary metro area can support one.

I’m surprised by the Dallas Stars’ proposed Plano arena. You need NHL arenas in the city core, as teams like Ottawa and Arizona have learned.

That goal has to stand, the Carolina player was shoved into the net.  Tie game!

Yeah and that’s why Torts didn’t challenge and risk a penalty. But all goals in final 3 minutes should be reviewed, imo

Once you get into the playoffs, I wouldn't mind if all goals were automatically reviewed.

Again, I'd refer to the NJ location of the NY teams.    How many NYers plan to hang in NJ before/after the games?

sorry tater, but you dont understand chicago's geography.  and therr is no correlation between quebec and hammond indiana.  again, the bears in hammond is equivalent to the lions in pontiac.

its dallas.  there really is no "core" city the way there is in chicago or new york.  much of the middle class population with money lives in the plano-mckinney-frisco area.  it would be equivalent to the wings building an arena in birmingham or farmington hills.

dallas is SOOOOO spread out.

its 30 miles from pontiac to downtown detroit.

its 28 miles from hammond to downtown chicago.

distance is similar, though traffic in Chicago is usually worse. Detroit has a road network built for twice as many people as currently live there.

But they build football stadiums so small now they don't even need any particular population density around them to fill them, and they don't care if the people in the stands are from Ill or Ind. When the Lions were in Pontiac, even with 80,000+ seats, much less of the crowd was from Wayne Co. than the draw to Ford Field is now. I'm sure the team didn't care a whit one way or the other. Less than 1% of your fans are in the live seats. I suppose you could argue that downtown businesses paying big bucks for boxes might prefer they be close to the business district, but I doubt that preference is enough to make a real difference in sales.

The Niners’ stadium is ridiculous. Arriving at SFO, you could either take a cab for around $150 each way to Santa Clara or do what I did and rent a car then drive to Mountain View to catch the train. Which you them wait for 30-45 minutes after the game with thousands of others. Not practical to park anywhere close to the stadium. And if you’re in central San Francsico, a good hour by transit (closer from San Jose).

traffic in chicago is much worse.  detroit has a good road system built for millions more people than actually live there.  when i return to detroit now, i'm always shocked at how much LESS traffic there is than when i lived there 25-30 years ago.

but my point is that hammond is not a separate economic system from chicago.  it is intertwined with chicago and is basically a suburb.
