IdahoBert Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I’m glad they didn’t — or couldn’t — trade Carpenter for a couple iffy prospects. It’s nice to believe that our rebuild won’t take as long as the reign of an Egyptian pharaoh. I know he’s on a cheap one-year contract, but do they have any more control over him than this? Quote

They still have four more years of control. Arbitration eligible in 2026. Free agent 2029. 1 Quote

I’m glad there are people that know more about this stuff than I do. Thank you. This is one less thing to toss and turn in bed thinking about all night long. 1 Quote

But arbitration years are iffy. If guys don't produce or if they get hurt, Harris may not offer them qualifying offers. Candelario, Turnbull and Boyd are all examples. There may be more? Quote

The end of next year might be more of a roster crunch. Quote

Is Harris willing to take a chance on Mize winning an arbitration hearing? How about Jake? His offense is pretty poor. And with Dingler up here now, you just never know. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Sammons came outta nowhere. Kinda surprises me. Oops...a run. Quote
1984Echoes Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Harris is not going to worry about Jake's offense. Rogers + Dingler = 1 veteran to help guide Dingler + hopefully the future (Dingler) starter... Or as soon as Dingler can get there. Not until Liranzo/ or Briceno are ready to graduate to MLB and share catching duties, AND Jake is ready to walk as a FA... will we need to worry about waving goodbye to our dear friend Jake. IMO. I don't know. Use Dingler as your starter and bring in an inexpensive backup. I could see that happening if Jake may win a salary hearing. IDK. Quote
gehringer_2 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 (edited) Vest. Make a low IQ play, then walks the next man, then gives up the bloop. Not looking hopeful. Edited August 15 by gehringer_2 Quote
SoCalTiger Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Malloy is so so bad in the field. Two runs on two catchable fly balls. Can not play him in the field Quote

IdahoBert Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Sammons, wow. Got caught up in my son’s playthrough of Ghost of Tsushima on his PS5. Only just now remembered this game was on. Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Kerry Carpenter homers (11) on a fly ball to right field. Matt Vierling scores. Quote
Tigermojo Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Toledo, Erie and Lakeland are all tied 3-3 late in the game. Quote
