Miller is doing what Miller wants. Trump, given his statements yesterday about farm and hospitality labor, appears to have zero clue what he wants and is just coasting.

Ultimately Trump bears the responsibility for what happens in his administration, but I don't think he's fully there TBH.

I agree he’s not fully there, but not because he can’t rattle off farm and hospitality labor statistics. Tose are details, and again, he’s not a details guy. He’s a big picture guy, he know what he needs to do to move the big picture along, and to Oblong’s point, he’s an agent of chaos intending to sow chaos liberally all around us.

Do you really think it’s more likely he’s sowing chaos without even intending to and not understanding the consequences of that even a little, than that he’s sowing chaos because he knows it’s easier to manipulate and control people when they’re aways on the defensive? Do you really think he is an empty cipher in the administration that bears his name?

I think he's a 79 year old man who is losing the handle on his fastball. He ran for office to stay out of jail and for revenge, and that is primarily what I believe he is focused on or cares about.

The details don't matter to him, there is no grand strategy, and the fact that any of it is effective is more of an indictment on the American public than it is attributable to him being a genius.

I agree that he is cognitively slipping as many 79-year-old men would be. What I would not agree with is the idea that he’s a mindless, utterly non-cognitive blob who couldn’t possibly be aware of anything he is doing at any given moment. The details don’t matter to him—they never have—but he knows what the strategy is, and he knows how to move the strategy along, and the fact that it is effective with large swaths of the population is also something I firmly believe he is well aware of, as well as why it’s effective. To suggest that he could not possibly be aware of any of it, which has been implied repeatedly in this forum, I believe serves only to take him off the hook of responsibility for it.

I think he's generally aware of what's going on, but from what was reported on during term one and what has been reported thus far (at least what I've read), I think he was much more involved in decision making during his first term and that he's outsourcing details much more this go around.

The immigration stuff, in particular, is 100% Miller. It's still 100% Trump's responsibility (ie. The Buck Stops Here), but Miller is in the drivers seat on this stuff IMO

and the dumbest, most projection filled op-ed of the week goes to…

Sadly I can't find it now, but a day or two ago there was a thread on Bluesky demonstrating how people start a tiny little fire, and use various angles/photoshopping/etc techniques to make it look like a riot in which 'downtown is on fire.' Also others showed how at least one 'journalist' arranged to have police cars around complete with sirens, that went away as soon as they finished filming. It was both impressive and infuriating.

Did anybody else see this? I'm hoping I didn't see it in a dream....

these people are just so dumb.

"No reason to keep all these pinko language specialists around, probably all closet Democrats, after all nothing ever happens in the world."

Which is fine for him because he's got goals at 30,000 feet he needs to accomplish. Although he will definitely swoop in at times and issue a decree about some minor hot button issue on the ground.

BTW I see that Gov Trumpkin-Lite has put the Va National Guard on standby just in case hooligans get out of hand and decide to hold a sing along or something nefarious

He is a huge professional wrestling guy.  He likes a good show and chaos does that for him!  He's a salesman.  I think he's somewhere in between being someone who knows exactly what he's doing and a cipher in the administration.

Wouldn't it be nice if they thru a party on a dreary Saturday and nobody showed (unless they were paid to)

Not sure about DC, but much of the NE has had 12 Saturdays in a row with rain. How evil am I to wish for a whole day of cold, wind driven rain tomorrow? There's a chance of rain here, but only for the morning....

He knows what he's doing in the sense he can connect to those rural voters that swing the elections for him.  He knows the buzzwords and how to pinpoint and phrase an issue.  He also knows how to craft a tweet that gets everybody upset so they say 'look how nuts he is....'.  He's good at trolling.   It gets the libs worked up so you get a circle jerk of responses and sharing.  I just roll my eyes at it because they fell for it again. He will mispell a word or do random capitalization.  Then the literati respond as if their words will change a mind.

A good example of this is the shower head water pressure.  It's harmless.  But a lot of people are like "Yeah, that does suck... why can't I have my good showers back?  **** the libs, man...."

We laughed at him driving the garbage truck and working at mcdonald's.  But it worked for him.

True. What would really upset him most if we would ignore his most idiotic stunts.

I’ve been wondering how the Trump people are going to turn this story into an indictment of the Democrats. My guess is they will go after the “leftist” media for reporting the story in a way Trump doesn’t or wouldn’t like.

I gotta tell ya, I have never heard so many helicopters flying over our neighborhood as I have in the past week or so. We almost never hear helicopters around here, unless there’s some car crash or something nearby and a TV station sends a copter to cover it. But we’ve been hearing maybe half a dozen helicopter patrolling overhead every night pretty much on the regular. It’s happening right now. They are definitely patrolling something.
