Motown Bombers Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago So is this the Kent State moment of this generation, or is that yet to come? Quote

The protests in MN were large and i think they will grow. The chances of a color revolution this summer are very high. Those who will definitely go to jail over these extra-judicial killings have only a few cards to play to avoid that fate. Ramping things up seems to have worked for them in the past. Quote
romad1 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Reporting that Noem and Lewandowski had a long long meeting with Trump. Hopefully they are put in a box or told to leave. Perhaps that was the Trump kids making bank in Polymarkets over this. Quote

The fact he was a VA ICU nurse is very commendable as they get paid crap compared an average ICU nurse in the private sector. A very avoidable scenario and everyone involved should be prosecuted. take that up with your overlords that you worship and can't stop gushing about, the ones you spent 2 years telling us were the greatest people since Lincoln. They did this. Not us. They're murderous scum and you enabled it and endorsed it. 2 4 Quote

romad1 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Anyone who thinks this firing or Bovino is some sort of moderating moment. Remember Trump wanted to massacre the BLM protesters in 2020 and it was only that his military leaders wouldn't let him. 1 Quote

And think about it, even with video proof and investigations not even started, the Trump administration officials rushed to judgment to make the victims appear to be the guilty ones. Daily Show last night had a great segment on exactly this. 1 Quote
oblong Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I'm happily surprised but still a little cautious about this momentum turn. Quote

The big fish is Miller And ICE is still in Maine. It's not as high profile, but still notable that people are reaching out to protect their neighbors. If this is because the focus is about to turn to another city, and I've heard talk of it going to Philadelphia and Springfield, OH, then it's not really a win. Quote

The murder is obviously the biggest travesty, but I can't get around the constant lying and victim blaming Don't understand how any self-respecting person can trust or believe anything this government says going forward given how they lied through their teeth about Alex Pretti. Motown Bombers Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Maine is one of the whitest states in the country and about as far away from Mexico as you can get. ICE is only there because their uppity governor didn’t know her place. 2 Quote

I am with you on feeling some initial relief, but I won't be happily surprised until I see how it actually shakes out. Just in the past few hours, we saw how Bovino is not getting fired, but rather reassigned and, bonus, praised by the Trump White House as a "great American". That tells me they believe in the man, and in the mission, but he's simply not the right face for it. They might believe they simply need a new face, someone who can be murderous when they want him to be, which is mostly, and charming when they believe the public needs to see him be, which is sometimes. Someone who can both kill and disarm with his smile. I will be interested to see who they can come with up to fill that bill, although I'm guessing it won't be an oathkeeper or a three percenter. OTOH, replacing Bovno with a militia hothead leader would be classic Trumpian doubling down, wouldn't it? 1 Quote

Worth reiterating that Trump is acting in certain places not necessarily because of who lives there—although that's a bonus—but because of how much he hates who runs them. 1 Quote

LaceyLou Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I will say, though, that while Maine is mostly white-there are parts of it that do have a fair number of immigrants (such as Portland/Lewiston, the area being targeted). And the cruelty is just as bad as in the larger metro areas. It has the oh so cute title of Operation Catch of the Day. It all needs to stop. Now. 2 Quote

I love what the initial summary on her Wikipedia page says: Lindsey Robyn Michelle Halligan is an American attorney who claimed to serve as the interim United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from September 2025 to January 2026, but her appointment was ruled unlawful by a federal judge in November 2025. Lol "claimed to serve". Quote

I'm can't fault them for that as some would. But saying they still support the administration but this was only a bad apple? Horse****. This shooter was carrying out the directives of everyone above him from the president on down, and it doesn't have to be as specific as "shoot this one unarmed white guy ten times to show everyone you mean business." They were told by the guy at the very top to be tough, they were praised for being tough, and they were allowed to amp it up by increments until executing people on the street in broad daylight became the inevitable next step. In fact, the guy at the very top said that one very violent day of policing will end crime forever. So, pardon me if I'm a bit skeptical about how horrified the guys being quoted in that story imply they are about the tactics being employed. They strike me as mad because it's the incompetents who are carrying it out amateurishly, instead of seasoned agents who are able to carry it out professionally and, presumably, surreptitiously. 1 Quote
