Imagine believing Trump played any role in his kid lives.

There is that story where Don Jr. was going to wear a jersey to a baseball game and Trump slapped him...so there is that much of a role in their lives.  Also, he likes to imagine having sex with Ivanka.

Maybe the Justice Department needs to investigate and prosecute the guy who forced his limousine to drive on the newly installed sealing on the Reflecting Pool. Or maybe the "friend" who installed the lining in the first place.

Moral compass? I doubt any of them even have an ethical refrigerator magnet.

the problem for the GOP congressional party is that even if they see it they have no idea what to do about it or where to go. The Congressional GOP are like the servants of Mordor, their wills are dependent on Trump. They are immobile beyond him.

Absolutely. Plus, the more he keeps this in the news, the less we talk about the billions he's pocketing or the children he's trafficked.

And the worst part is that he is using the official trappings of the highest office in what used to be the moral center of the First World to spout this garbage.

My gut tells me the Hong defeat in Wisconsin is critical because Wisconsin will be an important race in 2028.  A Dem governor there is critical to fighting the facacta GOP efforts to steal that state in the EC.

On the bright side, it was ideological rigidity, dependence on a god-like central figure, and general gross incompetence what brought down the Nazis. On the down side, they went through some of the most horrible times in history to get to that point.

The grownups are worried. In group chats and at happy hours, some GOP veterans fret about the rising generation of young staffers in their party. The recurring complaint: The pipeline that feeds young conservative talent into government jobs is defective — if not broken.

This isn’t just the standard middle-aged lament that the kids aren’t all right. It’s a criticism aimed at institutions like the Heritage Foundation that purport to identify and train the party’s future governing class. To conservative critics in and out of government, many of whom ascribe to more traditional, pre-MAGA Republican beliefs, some such institutions have spent the last decade selecting for rigid conformity to Trumpist ideology over more typical markers of expertise. Maybe that helps for enforcing the party line in the new GOP. But these critics fear a decline of merit and skill, along with a tolerance for darker ideologies that could cripple the party’s ability to govern in the long run.

Conversations with four senior Republican congressional staffers, as well as think tank scholars, Heritage expats, academics who study think tanks and up-and-coming young Republicans reflected a widening generational split and mutual distrust over the issue.

“Everyone knows what the problem is: The organizations that bring young staffers to Washington, D.C. have spent the last decade prioritizing blind ideological loyalty instead of competence or intelligence,” said a senior GOP congressional staffer, granted anonymity to discuss sensitive personnel issues. “We have a generation of rabid, incompetent idiots.”

This is definitely a problem for them but also for everyone else.

I'm struggling with the AF1 and decoy plane story.  If there's a credible threat against AF1 and you are in a foreign country and on the ground what is the correct course of action?  Forget Trump is POTUS for this exercise.

Just proceed with POTUS on board and do and hope for the best?  Get POTUS out of there like was done but leave the aircraft they are targeting there?   Or wait until POTUS is gone then announce the threat?  Do you announce threats like this at all?

My hope is that this wasn't done by the admin but the secret service in their role to protect.  And I wouldn't be shocked if this has happened before for most presidents.  When you travel on AF1 with the POTUS that's the risk you take and accept.

The last known instance of something like this was W on 9/11.  That press contingent was with him for that day.  They also allowed reporters to be embeds during the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Is there historic precedence for something like this. During 9/11, they dropped most of the traveling press corps off at a base in Louisiana, five reporters were allowed to travel with the President afterward. The Administration and security on that trip explained everything to the press corps. There was some grumbling since everything was grounded and the remaining corps had to find alternative routes back to DC.

When President Clinton traveled to Pakistan, he traveled in an unmarked, unknown plane, but the press was fully aware of the ruse at the time, in real-time.

When President Biden traveled to Ukraine, some of the press pool were misled and in the dark, but there was always a team of reporters who knew where Biden was and what he was doing.

To me there are two things here. #1) The fact he was flying in a "gifted" plane that was not evidently sufficiently equipped for what security thought might happen. 2) The fact they left staff members and members of the traveling corps sitting on the runway without knowledge of what was happening and made them possible sitting ducks. 3) The coverup. The fact they kept everything secret and then DENIED that anything happened.

It just confirms what we already know how this regime cares about human lives.
