Honor is as high as the last number on the check. lane kiffin would sell his mother for .50 cents. that's not a good analogy. 1) if cignetti could be bought now, he would be at penn state. 2) michigan is not paying $15 million to a head football coach now, and neither is larry ellison. if sherrone moore doesnt work out michigan will be in trouble because they have show no ability to hire a good football coach that doesnt fall right into their laps. but the next michigan head football coach is likely someone who has ties to the university already. a "michigan man". which is another reason why they will be in trouble. they found dusty may and john beilein through search firms. they got rich rod because they bungled les miles (and lloyd didnt like les), they got hoke because theyre dumb, and they got sherrone because theyre lazy and not ruthless. michigan was never going to pay that money and cignetti was never going to accept it if they did offer it. Hongbit Posted Tuesday at 03:46 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:46 PM Cignetti is an outlier. People don’t become the next big thing at age 64. He’s on his last go around as a coach and it doesn’t make sense changing up what he’s worked 40 years to have happen. I do believe almost any coach can be bought by a blue blood program like Michigan. Quote

Lot's of coaches say they are going to be at a program for life or are there to stay for the long-term and then leave. If Sherrone doesn't end up working out Michigan would be stupid not to call Cignetti. If he says no and you can't buy him away from Indiana then you move on. But you absolutely have to extend the olive branch to a guy like that. It is my sincere hope that we never cross that bridge because Sherrone ends up working out. It seems unlikely, but I hope it happens. I'm willing to give Sherrone another full season and see what he can do with two solid recruiting classes. The two things he absolutely must do this offseason is get a QB coach/OC in who can help develop Underwood and bring in some talent at WR. If he can't get those things done, he's likely going to struggle again next year and be an 8-9 win team. Quote
