Sort of. Do you seriously think Warde  - assuming he did at any point think it would be a good idea,  had the pull to actually fire Hargbaugh over 'organizational issues' when they were threatening to win a natty? Maybe after the messy Covid year he might have gotten away with it but even then Harbaugh had huge inside and donor support. I think one thing we are free to do a lot of here in discussion (which is fine) is assume people are unconstrained just because we don't know or see the constraints they are under.

I'm no particular fan of Manuel, but I can't imagine his job was any kind of picnic once Harbaugh showed up. I'm perfectly happy to pin Moore on him, but even there it wouldn't surprise me if we learned a lot of pressure for that decision was coming from other places - though we never likely will even it were true - the old saw about 'failure is an orphan' being applicable.

Or another way to put it is that if Warde had had to fight to hire Moore over the objections of Regents and donors, he'd almost certainly be fired by now.

he was responsible for the program when harbaugh was the coach.  he negotiated a lower salary with harbaugh after covid.  regardless of whether he could have fired him in 2p23, he was responsible for keeping him following 2020.  as such, he is responsible for what happened.

he's also responsible for it simply because he is the AD and is responsible for everything in the department.  especially in the marquee part of that department.

the moore hiring and retention is 100% on warde manual.

All true in the black and white sense. Still, I would have enjoyed reading your posts had Manuel fired him 2020.

again, he shouldnt have fired him then.  however, he is RESPONSIBLE for what happens while harbaugh was here.

if i were Ad, i would have kept harbaugh and likely would have deserved to be fired for the moore fiasco.

with that said, i would like to think i wouldnt have hired moore.  but if i did, i would have no truck with being fired over the outcome.  especially after the juwan incident(s).

i could take my nice severance package and go on vacation.

yeah - I think I posted before that I think Warde could stand up, take the fall and ride off into the sunset and probably be everyone's favorite guy for the rest of his days in A^2. Then again at 57 maybe he has no hobbies and retirement petrifies him....🤷‍♀️

Warde will probably name himself Head Coach with a clause in his contract that he is to be fired as AD for any reason that he gets double his Head Coaching salary and double the length and the buyout triples.
