Yeah. I hope this characteristic doesn’t leak outside of college football coaching into other aspects of life. 1 Quote

I don’t find those patches bothersome right now. The Tigers, in particular, have at least gotten the Meijer patches to blend in with the jerseys as far as color pattern is concerned. I suppose that helps. On the other hand, if I’m marketing and I dole cash over to a team, I don’t necessarily want the patch to be “invisible”. Quote

Maybe because of all the higher ed chaos coming from the gov they are too distracted, but I did expect that by now some kind of vision or leadership would have emerged somewhere in the AAU group around designing a sane future instead of just getting ping-ponged around between media demands and court decisions all the while carrying the cost load while everyone else takes home the $ they have to raise. And the current board of regents at UM lead the disappointment. The academic athletics world is swirling and they install a care-taker president and care-taker football coach when they could most use leadership that would be in place long enough to have a vision and implement it. Deleterious Posted Saturday at 10:57 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:57 PM That is pretty rough. SEC Football Isn’t Winning Titles. But There’s One Way It’s Still Crushing the Big Ten. Quote There is no question which conference is the reigning king of college football. Indiana’s spectacular national title this week was the third in a row by a Big Ten team, after Michigan and Ohio State. But when it comes to the long game, the Southeastern Conference is still leading by at least a couple of touchdowns. Two years ago, SEC and Big Ten football games drew similar television audiences. This season, however, the second campaign since each league expanded, the SEC’s average audience has surged by 49% while the Big Ten’s has dropped 11%, according to Nielsen. The average regular-season SEC football game now draws 2 million more viewers than the average Big Ten game. Quote

The PAC-10/12 had bad management that led to its demise. No one wants to watch a football game that starts at 11pm. Not recruits. Not fans. Not casual consumers. Growing up there was a shared experience of waking up groggy on the couch at 2am to the theme music of George Lopez. It’s like that was the target audience of PAC-10/12 administration. And the Big Ten has learned nothing!!!!! USC/MSU kicked at 11:11pm on the east coast. Despite being a pretty decent game, it drew less than Indiana/Illinois, a 63-10 blowout. Putting UCLA/Oregon State on that late is one thing. Putting a national draw with an east coast team on it just isolated your product. Quote

Deleterious Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM Author Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM Easy to understand why NBC was shopping the Big Ten conference championship. The ratings for that game probably will be fine. They are selling it to recoup missed revenue from the bad regular season ratings. Start times are an issue, but it isn't the late ones. It's putting your best game every week on at noon. Your best games need to be in the 3:30/7:30 slots. Quote

As my dear fried Buddha stated, I actively root for whoever is playing scUM. If I had to say I have a favorite college team, I’d say Notre Dame because I like the helmets and I spent my formative years near South Bend. That said, much like my Lions fandom, I don't actively follow them, I couldn’t name two players on the team and, while I hope they win, I’m indifferent to the games outcome as I still have to go back to work on Mondays for the next 2.5 years. Maybe once I retire I’ll give a rip. Quote
