You don't always have a base stealer on base when you need the base. More players have good enough speed 1st to third than have the sprint talent for the straight steal or the quickness to get a big enough lead without getting picked off. Base stealing requires rarer skills than taking extra bases. Pitchers and catchers can do a lot to take away the steal when they are looking for it. Outfielders are not suddenly going to get more skilled when they are challenged. If anything you take them out of their comfort zone in a way that you aren't for a catcher - who probably wouldn't be there if he didn't at have at least a reasonable game throwing to 2nd. My point would be that Clark has at least plus speed, and would score more runs if he lead off games with a walk/steal to be on 2nd with nobody out. He is great at getting on first base, and should be a high percentage stealer. Maybe the Tigers will let him steal more when he's on the ML team. Quote

A couple of mocks had him going to us higher than when we drafted him originally. Is this a case of him being old for his level or figuring things out? (Maybe both) Would love to see what he can do in Erie. Quote

If he's stealing at a success rate of 80%+, the Tigers should give him the "green light". They might not do that when he just breaks in... But I think they'll turn that light on sooner rather than later or never... IMO. Quote

Tenacious D Posted Wednesday at 11:35 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:35 PM Has anyone published updated organizational prospect rankings, post-draft? Will be interesting to see where Yost and Oliveto land amongst our current prospects. Quote

My very broad guess is Yost is in the back half of the top 10 Oliveto is in the mid-teens and Dumesnil, Hamilton, Jacobs in the late teens early 20's range. Quote
LongLiveMaroth Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM Posted yesterday at 04:35 PM Just looked through the transactions and saw Owen Hall got moved to the 60-Day probably to open up some slots for signees but shoulder issues are always a concern with pitchers so I am guessing we won't see him again this year. Moving from DSL to FCL is about more than box scores. There are certain boxes that need to be checked (life skills, English, schooling, etc) before the move. And that doesn't even get into the post draft Domestic Reserve List crunch. Quote
