casimir Posted Tuesday at 11:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:04 PM Welcome back, Gary Jones. Quote Chris McCosky, The Detroit News Tue, May 12, 2026 at 3:38 PM EDT · 1 min read New York — The Toledo Mud Hens, the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate, announced Tuesday that Gary Jones would be stepping in to manage the team the rest of the season. Jones, who stepped away from coaching this year after being on manager AJ Hinch’s staff the previous four seasons, replaces interim manager Mike Hessman, who will return to his duties as hitting coach. Hessman stepped in last week after Gabe Alvarez was fired for a violation of club policy. Jones, 65, is a baseball lifer. He managed in the minor leagues for 18 seasons, 10 at the Triple-A level (652-605). He was managing the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (from 2018-2021) before joining Hinch’s staff. Jones coached first base and third base, as well as working with the outfielders in his time in Detroit. Not mentioned, but I thought he was to lead the Mud Hens a few years ago but ended up leaving Lakeland with the Tigers. I don't recall how that would have worked out that way. Quote
tiger2022 Posted Wednesday at 12:23 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:23 AM When I was in college I worked at a casino and my shift manager got fired because he sent out a text to a fellow dealer that if she wanted to get promoted she should come on over. Quote
papalawrence Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Max Clark's ops is now sub 700. Meanwhile Max Anderson's is 1.000+. Quote

I think this kind of crap happens in a lot of places, especially in the male environment of pro sports. It's good that the Tigers organization is addressing it. Quote
tiger2022 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago You would think with all the examples of people losing their jobs from sexual harassment or whatever term you want to use, they would be a bit wiser. I have to think since the Bill Clinton era that it is common knowledge that this kind of stuff usually comes back to bite you. Quote

It's good that the Tigers organization is addressing it. I've worked for several companies and think people are a bit wiser on what they say, but I don't really talk to any co-workers about personal matters or see any of them outside of work. I am 100% all business at work, and I work with about 75% women and the other 25% are IT developers...the majority have zero social skills, so I just keep to myself. But as I mentioned, when I worked at the casino sexual innuendo and straight harassment was the rule rather than the exception. I was a 22 year old fresh meat dealer just paying my way through college and could have went to HR every night to complain about inappropriate comments or actions from the women supervisors and managers. I imagine the male supervisors were just as bad to the younger female dealers Edited 46 minutes ago by tiger2022 Quote
