Well the FCL ended on Thursday of last week which is why I was expecting some movement which usually happens on Tuesday. I am guessing you'll see some next week after the trade deadline as well for obvious reasons. Quote

I know they like to go slow with their new draftees and often we don't see anyone until the following year... But is there a possibility we see one or two get some Lakeland time before the season is out...? Chances are... For: Flukey? LeBlanc? Dempsey? Ballinger? Adams? Quote

My gut feeling based on previous drafts: Flukey: Yes (Only because he had a shortened college season so maybe a few innings) LeBlanc: Yes Dempsey: No (Full college season) Ballinger: Yes (Ankeney just got promoted so need a 1B) Adams: No (Probably starts in the FCL next year) I obviously would love to see some of these guys play this year rather than next year it just doesn't fit the MO of the Tigers usually. LongLiveMaroth Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I know lots of people have thoughts about Clark and his personality and god forbid chains (Never hear anyone complain about Hao Yu-Lee's jewelry) but at 21 you can tell he studies his hitting and his approach. Quote

I've said this before. He's very diligent about his work. I've followed him on the Twitterz and he posted consistently all winter as he hit against a machine what he was trying to do that day to improve himself. He may fail but it won't be from a lack of effort. And chains or not he seems like a pretty stable guy in his private life too. All about home life and baseball. No distractions. Quote

The issue for pitchers now, with the later draft, is that they basically have to go through another spring training as they haven’t pitched in a while. Still might be enough time, though. Still might be enough time, though. And the other thing with pitchers is... I believe the Tigers development team likes to work with their new draftees extensively, mechanics, adding/ subtracting pitches, tunnelling... etc. I'm just guessing as I don't know exactly what they ARE doing with the new draftees... But I know they like working with the new pitchers quite a lot, which, along with the other factors you've mentioned... means we might not see them on a team until sometime in 2027... Mark may know a whole lot more about this then what I just surmised/ guessed... Quote
romad1 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 This is an odd curiousity that might or might not ever matter. Quote

Just assumed he was an International signing. Since those guys are bigger lottery tickets, I’m even more optimistic about his prospects. Quote
NorthWoods Posted July 30 Posted July 30 If we're checking guys for next year, he should be next. Quote

NorthWoods Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Clark stats from Niyo at the News: A hot start with the Mud Hens in April was followed by a cool May (batting .232 with a .631 OPS) as the smooth-swinging lefty struggled to adjust to opponents attacking his weaknesses rather than simply pitching to their own strengths. But much like the Tigers, Clark’s offensive output came to life in June, and in July the power has come along as well. He hit .338 with five homers and a 1.038 OPS in 19 games this month for Toledo, while continuing to tear up the basepaths (21-for-23 on stolen bases) and play above-average defense in center field. Tiger337 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 OK, I am finally ready to get into the trade fun. I like the trades where they talk about the Tigers getting a young pitcher (e.g. Sheehan, Henderson, Drohan) and a hitting prospect who is ready or almost ready. I don't want any A ball guys who are 2 or 3 years away (at least not headlining the deal). 1 1 Quote

If Harris can pull that off with the hitter being a MLB ready OF, get a prospect for Gleyber and keep Mize for the comp pick I'll be very happy. It's the best possible outcome of gaining value while not killing this season. Getting anything beyond a bag of balls for Flaherty, Finnegan or Jansen would be icing on the cake. Quote

I don’t care if he dresses like Mr T out there as long as he gets on base and plays good defense. He can do all of his interviews in Klingon and I won’t care. Just get hits, draw walks, score runs and play lock down defense. Quote

Mr. T is a hero of mine: “Stay in school stay off drugs.“ As is Christie Brinkley: “Always wear a hat outside, use sunscreen, and drink lots of water.“ This is practical wisdom and if Max Clark follows his own version of practical wisdom regardless of how many chains he wears I’m cool with it. 1 Quote
