We got there early when we went and checked out all the statues and other attractions. We had a blast. I'll be going back there, hopefully. I’ve been going to Wrigley Field on the regular for going on 30 years, so, of course I can see all the warts. April and May are, on balance, awful at Wrigley. The lake is to the north and east and the stadium opens to the north and east, and the wind almost always comes whipping off that lake at breakneck speed this time of year. So with water temps still in the low 40s, the temperature drops by some ten degrees versus that outside the stadium. Today, for example, it was 54 degrees on the thermometer, the official feels like temp was 42, and it felt like it was in the low 30s up there. My hands, toes, and knees were very numb by the middle of of game. Add the fact that the upper deck seats are never in the afternoon sun, and it gets very, very wintery up there all the way up to Memorial Day, and occasionally beyond. On the other hand, in July and August, when temps get into the 90s, it gets incredibly hot and muggy up there, and that’s exacerbated by the fact that the winds in the summer come in from the south and west, which is blocked by the stadium behind us (remember, we face north and west). So we get zero breeze up there to help cool us off. Many are the times I sweat like crazy in my seats, and between innings I have to go down the tunnel to the concourse to get some breeze any breeze to cool off. And I love that place. I love it with all my baseball soul. I’m lucky to live here and only a 20-minute drive from it. Edited 14 hours ago by chasfh Quote

IdahoBert Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Two run homer for the Rockies hey this is what we have to do Quote
IdahoBert Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I’m looking forward to a couple seven run innings by the Tigers. Where we score and don’t give them up. Quote
kdog Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Jobe learning how to pitch in the show...there will be some bumps. Quote
Tigermojo Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I feel like the Tigers might score 20 or zero. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Let’s hit him where they ain’t guys. There are no players in the stands for instance beyond the outfield fence. Quote
chasfh Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Ok, I will definitely pause Dan Dickerson to listen to Jack White talk to Jason and Andy. Quote
IdahoBert Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Hey, it’s Jack White. Took my daughter for her first concert ever in Portland and it was the White Stripes 20 years ago and it’s one of the most memorable and amazing performances I’ve ever seen. It was positively operatic. I swear a guy with a guitar and a girl on a drum and you would’ve thought there were five people on stage. 3 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Nice for them to actually have a guest that can talk Tigers baseball competently while also being entertaining Quote
IdahoBert Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago This is one of the very few times I don’t dislike having them concentrate on somebody in the booth. Quote
chasfh Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago And just like that the hitters pull Jobe’s ass out of the jackpot. Quote
TigerNation Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Greene two well hit balls but nothing to show for it. Quote

But old Tiger Stadium, in the early season, was freezing. All that cement held the cold in and it was like being in a freezer. IMO, baseball shouldn't be played in very cold weather. Quote
